Somerset V Plymouth 18th April

Plus thr fact that he called back 4 or 5 of our lads for making a good gate but when Jensen got a flyer in heat 14 he didn't flinch!! Seemed almost bias.

This is quite frankly laughable! Calling the referee biased for making these calls and claiming hard done by for the others is hilarious.

Two of the most ridiculous refereeing decisions you are ever likely to witness tonight - first of all it being announced that Katajisto had missed the two minutes in heat 14 when his bike conked out for the second time when at the tapes and returning to the pits, only for the two minutes to go on and then be told this was the original two minutes that went on... surely this is common practice for a referee to put the two minutes on before a race? Effectively gave Katajisto an extra two minutes to prepare for the race, when he should of been excluded for missing what should of been the original two minutes.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, Jensen goes down in a heap coming out of bend 2 as if he had been snipered from the clubhouse patio and stays down when it was clear he was going to be one the excluded, and rightfully was. However, as the time of the stoppage the other 3 riders had just entered the final lap with Allen gaining tremendous speed around the outside and Vissing having a decent run up the inside too. Not only did Ronnie Allan award the race and put an end to what was going to be a great final lap but with the result of the race still very much in doubt where any one of the three could of won it, especially with the match still in the balance, to award that seems absolutely ludicrous.

Special mention for Matt Wethers however who was superb value tonight - cracking ride in heat 13 to come from the back to pass Vissing inside and then Allen outside.

Najjer sometimes you still amaze me with your incredibly one-sided posts claiming to be hard done by - Tonight Ronnie Allen made some disgraceful calls against the Devils and yet you claim hard done by.

The Kurtz brothers jumped at least five starts between them. Yes they were pulled back on some but Brady in heat 3 should have been pulled back on a blatant jump. Todd then jumps again later on in the evening after getting a warning and suddenly they claim the tapes didn't work properly to avoid an exclusion! After that I grant you there were issues but the tapes went up fine in that race!

Olly Allen had both wheels over the white line in his 3rd race coming off bend 2, it was so obvious you could even see where he'd crossed, but the ref says nothing and the Rebels got a 5-1. I have no idea what happened with the Kalle decision in heat 14 so that one I'll give you but in heat 15 Vissing gave Jensen a shove, there was contact and Vissing should have gone. More often than not he would have!

A good meeting with some excellent racing but some very odd refereeing decisions - I thought both guest number ones did themselves proud, Vissing and Wethers were excellent value!

I think that Plymouth should think long and hard about Simota and Benko if they are to progress.

I thought Benko was unlucky tonight and deserved more for his efforts. He has pleasantly surprised me - Simota though.....

All I can say is that from keeping an eye on the updates we saw Plymouth make a spirited fightback to gain an away point, I am sure refereeing decisions will of evened themselves out by the end of the two legs. well done to all riders and lets hope tomorrow see's another cracker for the fans and a safe meeting for all the riders.

The referee was an absolute disgrace tonight. Jensen gets a flier in heat 14 when he has been pulling them back all night yet lets him go absurd. Then just before that Katajisto is within the 2 minutes how? Even if he forgot to put the two minutes signal on thats his fault. All the riders were at the start believing this to be the original two minutes.

Finally heat 15 and Jensen disgusting when riders do that goes down and stays down just to keep a 3-3. Speedway is supposed to be a gentlemans game. Stays down and then gets up as soon as the red light goes on. Ok rules are rules but can be bent especially in cases of fiddling the result as Jensen was obviously doing.

Some fair points in there Mikey and two observations for you - the Olly Allen one it is impossible to see the white line on turns 2 and 3 from the refs box so I would say it's hardly surprising he missed that. I can think of numerous times it's happened in the past, not that it makes it right. Whilst on the subject of crossing the line, what an idiot too the referee was putting the red line on to exclude Charles Wright mid race, and both Starke and Reade started to slow when crossing the start line to then realise the red lights weren't actually on - hence why it then got turned off.

With regards the start tapes, this is the 3rd week on the bounce we've had issues with them going up lop sided.

Regarding Allen, to be fair we thought the same but it was one of a whole host of errors from the ref. I didn't understand why he put the red lights on mid race, we were all wondering why some riders slowed but others didn't, bizarre.

Fair one on the tapes, I've not been there but in the heat that he pulled them back I thought the tapes went up fine.

Anyway refereeing decisions shouldn't take away from a decent meeting where we were far more competitive than I thought we'd be!

Oh well looks like everyone agrees the ref had a mare . It will difficult from here but hopefully the rockets can do us a favour on Sunday.Heat 15 is becoming a bit of a pain, we need to start banging in the wins here, our current failure is costing us big time.P/Boro would not be nailed on for the next stage if we had closed the matches out home and away.
