Looks like two cracking meetings, so much better having two semi finals than, when a few years ago, they used to seed some of the riders into the final. Gives everyone a fair crack at the whip.

Hardly gives everyone a fair crack as the fact there does not appear to be a fair and proper draw, all Sheffield riders drawn at Sheffield and all Rye riders drawn at Rye? I suspect there has been no actual draw at all? Therefore you are potentially looking at Steve Boxall and Andre Compton reaching the British Final due to considerable home track advantage, where as these two examples would never qualify on opposite tracks. You are also looking at the likes of Lewis Kerr and Kyle Howarth missing out on the British Final purely due to the amount of home track specialists they have to meet.

Yes I know everyone has to be able to beat anyone on their given day to be a worthy champion, just saying it is hardly a fair crack of the whip.....its more like just trying to ensure a few people actually turn up to what constitutes two pointless meetings.

agree... Barring Kennett.... It's a joke and not fair on the other competitors, surely it should be an open draw rather than the same riders getting home track advantage year on year.

The way the organisers will be looking at it, I believe, is, if the home riders aren't in there draw (e.g Stead not at Sheffield, etc.) then who would go?

i know that.... Does that make it right on the others though??

No. I actually agree with you. I was mearly pointing out why the 'draw' (in my opinion) is done that way.

If they want to do it to attract the home crowd, maybe only one home rider should be guaranteed to be at home (as it were). Still doesn't make it right though!!!

Strange why Kennett is not at Rye. Oh hang on if the BSPA give Bates a place. He can go to Sheffield then Kennett swap to Rye. ....

Or they can just do the obvious thing and replace the injured Newman with Bates.... Would be hardly fair to dilute the Sheffield line up any further.

So, that is now four Sheffield riders riding at Sheffield!!

When I were a lad the Sheffield riders were all seeded to the Leicester semi. On the other hand the British rounds also included the likes of Mauger, Moore, Briggs, Airey, Valentine etc.

If Bates does get a start then I imagine he'd be quite happy to go to Rye given his penchants for the smaller circuits.

Did robert lambert refuse a place? (I.e.part of his tantrum in the star the other week). Real shame if thats the case.

The places are allocated on last years averages.

As a new 3 pointer he would not be on the list.
