Gp Qualifier Sat June 7th @ Berwick

Recommended Posts

while I don't know what went on regarding a rain -off,but I find it strange to arrange to Ride at Glasgow on what could be a potential rain -off date ( which has now happened)

Lots of clubs take advantage of a meeting being held at their track in which their team isn't involved to fulfil an away fixture. In this case, their agreement to the match at Glasgow was only for the restaging date, which (with better luck) wouldn't be getting used. Only Berwick rider who won't be at Glasgow tomorrow will be Kus, who was a fairly late addition to the qualifier in any case.

Berwick supporters have the choice of following their team to Glasgow (and sending their Saturday tickets to Rugby for cash refund) or staying home and watching the qualifier.

Very nice start to this Monday morning, dry and sunny. Forecast for later is fairly good, mostly dry but there will be the chance of showers, some could be thundery and heavy, these will be mostly in the afternoon. I will update during the course of today.

I think the other poster is correct. For instance, when Berwick staged the first NJLRC meeting at Shielfield in 2009 or 2010, the "big team" were racing in a rearranged match at Workington. Paul Clews scored a maximum, I believe.

Berwick have made several advances with Council planners in recent seasons, getting extra midweek allowances for Sky meeting last year and some backlogged fixtures running in midweek. But absolutely "never on a Sunday". I understand an approach was indeed made to a senior official last night for "very exceptional" permission to run today. They said no.

You think? Planning restrictions at Berwick have always been severe, and after an abuse of the absolute Sunday embargo by a previous promoter, any repeat Sunday staging could very well result in the track being closed! You would want this?

i didnt say run without permission i said ask for permission, and as i said in a later post as well as the one you have quoted, how many FIM meetings get postponed i think you'll find the answer is not very many. Maybe the club should ask fans of all clubs that if you stay in a local guest house or hotel or eat in a restaurant mention you're there for the speedway the club then may find some useful allies when it comes to getting a little flexibility off of the council.

A fine example, a junior meeting with none of the "big team" involved.this time one of the "big "team will miss a meeting for his club.give me an example that does not involve junior meetings.

I don't know what forecast you are looking at but both the Met Office & BBC are showing light rain from about 8 o'clock to midnight.

Looks like there could be a couple of changes to the line up.

GREAT Britain duo Richard Lawson and Lewis Bridger have both been called up to the full line-up for tonight’s re-arranged Grand Prix Qualifier at Berwick.

The Lakeside pair, previously named as meeting reserves, take the places of Daniel Gappmaier and Tobias Kroner who have withdrawn due to illness.

It means there will be four British riders in action at Shielfield Park, as Lawson and Bridger join Chris Harris and Craig Cook in the field.

Kyle Howarth, who competed for Great Britain in the World Under-21 Team Cup on Saturday, will now take over as meeting reserve, with the action getting underway at 7.30pm.

Thought Kyle Howarth had a broken wrist?

TBF it's one thing riding club speedway a couple of times a week with a broken wrist and something else to ride on the World Championship. Good luck to him - and the other GB boys.
