bigeddiechek
How much bad luck can Berwick have with these meetings and the weather? An incredible effort put in by all the staff well-rewarded with a big show of appreciation from the crowd. I thought Dick Barrie did a very good job out in the rain keeping everyone informed, I get the feeling everyone was stuck between a rock and a hard place tonight. Glad common sense prevailed as the FIM guys seemed hell-bent on racing which would have short-changed the fans. Got something to look forward to on Monday night for a change, just feel for fans that can't make the meeting, bloody rain
Goodiepatchie
Really? So berwick have no issues running a meeting on a sunday?no planning for Sundays
Arson fire
Aye, there's the rub. Berwick inherited the meeting (and the Supplementary Regs) from the Austrian place, and FIM didn't notice, and remove, the Sunday date. The riders who were hoping to ride in the SEC qualifier at Monday must all now be at Berwick. Although the ones with meetings in Poland tomorrow will be there, as will Craig Cook and Matej Kus be at Newcastle, and a few others at Glasgow. cheers dick
waiheke1
no planning for SundaysYes. So Henry s statement that the issue with holding the meeting on Sunday was entirely due to Berwick, and nothing to do with the Polish clubs was correct, and not garbage as some were saying. SCB
The only real good thing to come out of this is the SEC organisers must be pretty pissed off I bet the Poles are already claiming it's a conspiracy
bluejam
So many unanswered questions on this thread.Personally,I've had an absolute belting night in the Black and Gold Club while it pissed down all around me!!So good to catch up with some of the Premier Leagues finest supporters(and riders) .Also handed a re-admission ticket by one of the nations finest as they are unable to attend the re-arrangement fixture on Monday evening, whilst being chauffeur driven to and from my holiday cottage. HenryW
Yes. So Henry s statement that the issue with holding the meeting on Sunday was entirely due to Berwick, and nothing to do with the Polish clubs was correct, and not garbage as some were saying. Thanks for covering me with this comment... My previous post was quickly tapped out on my phone and I maybe should have gone into more detail than I did. The short wording has clearly wound up some of the Berwick fans and that wasn't my intention, I just meant to deflect the blame from Poland as the post that I replied to suggested that it was their fault that the meeting wasn't being held tomorrow... As far as I am aware, and some riders tweeted this earlier too, Berwick can't host meetings on Sundays so the re-staging being delayed until Monday was all about the availability of the track rather than anything to do with the Poles having one over us. As SCB has mentioned, it's actually quite amusing that this is impacting on the SEC qualifiers. I am sure that they want Janowski in their series, but he will now have to be at Berwick rather than their qualifier in Hungary...I look forward to seeing how this one plays out, and I doubt that the FIM bosses will be too unhappy at messing up the SEC events

SCB
I see Cegielski is saying the Poles should stop all riders riding in international competition because the FIM are sabotaging the SEC. Hmmm, now who predicted this? Seriously, the FIM shoudl tell the Poles to do one is Cegielski is going to constantly moan about everything. I wonder what the chances of the Debrecen meeting being moved to another date are??

Also, Dick told us "all the riders want to ride," which, according to at least one rider 'brave' enough to tweet, wasn't true. Hope the few that can attend on Monday see a decent meeting on a decent track. I'm one, no doubt of many, that can't make it. screm
What will be the re-staging date when it is rained off on Monday? Lets not even go there. Perhaps common sense would have been to pull this meeting 3 or 4 hours before the meeting should have started, rather than the hour and a half after it should have started? Also, Dick told us "all the riders want to ride," which, according to at least one rider 'brave' enough to tweet, wasn't true. Hope the few that can attend on Monday see a decent meeting on a decent track. I'm one, no doubt of many, that can't make it. Not sure it was feasible to pull the meeting forward, it was advertised to start at 7pm for weeks. Agree with you about the comments from the centre green, if Mr Barrie cares to take himself onto social media, something he claims he doesn't do, then he will see the riders were far from happy. One claiming they were being held hostage by FIM. If they were so keen to get out there it might've been an idea to bite the bullet and go for it whatever the track conditions were, IMO the track was no worse or better at 9pm than it was at 7pm, though it was clear for all to see that any speedway was unlikely. Got something to look forward to on Monday night for a change, just feel for fans that can't make the meeting, bloody rain I thought the information handed out by FIM was shocking, it seems they were unable to make a decision, I think the vast majority of us knew there was very little chance of racing, and that's what we all wanted, racing, it was next to pointless putting riders out just to poodle round. Though Mr Barrie did himself few favours to tell us the rain had all but stopped when it clearly hadn't. I, like you, are in a very fortunate position this time as we can make the re-arrangement easily, there will be people who cant and find themselves out of pocket. I had fans from Redcar, Glasgow and further afield sitting round me, all of whom are very unlikely to make tomorrow night, those people I feel for. bigeddiechek
Certainly last night not being pulled at an earlier point was entirely an FIM decision. As for the re-staging? Well they know the situation with Berwick's planning, so how can anyone put the blame on Berwick? The FIM should be clear about that, and should have known exactly when they were able to re-stage. I think they got their knickers in a twist last night. As for Dick saying all the riders want to ride, maybe that is what he was told? I very much doubt anyone focused on the event were anywhere near their twitter account. Hans Anderson is very much a has-been, his lack of professional focus undoubtedly a contributing factor... Al Stewart
My advice to all UK tracks would be to avoid any involvement with the FIM. They bulldoze in, take over everything, including the riders' lives, but they do not actually organise things properly. It was absolutely clear that the restaging dates had not been properly discussed, that could be the fault of both the FIM and Berwick. But much worse than that, the FIM were not at all interested in the people sitting in the stadium and the car park. That is their fault but it also damages Berwick speedway.

Midland Red
Not sure it was feasible to pull the meeting forward, it was advertised to start at 7pm for weeks. I think you'll find Steve Park was saying "pull the meeting" (ie call it off) rather than "pull the meeting forward" (ie start it earlier)
