Urgent Postponement Stoke V Buxton 13/04/14

if its that bad going into turn 1, maybe the Track could be taken out onto the old greyhound Track on the home straight, then just let the stocks use the original speedway straight where the problem is.

Lets not forget that Coventry have been in a similar situation this season. So it can happen to anyone.

This seems to be speedways buzz word at the moment "Its ok because it happens elsewhere"

Well its not, all you end up with is a race to the bottom .Its up to promoters to get their own/house business in order, not for fans to overlook incompetency by simply saying "oh its ok because it happens elsewhere"

The Stoke circus rolls on or not as the case may be, I notice that most Stoke and ex Stoke supporters don't bother to comment anymore.

There arent many Stoke supporters left. I have hung in there for the last three years with the slightest hope that things could be turned around. I gave it a chance but this season i have totally had enough of the promotions antics, lies, unprofessionalism and lack of ambition. They couldnt care less who attends and who doesnt and have totally run the place down into the ground. Year by year, week by week, the fans attending has got less and less. It has got to the stage where every home meeting you expect an excuse as to why the meeting has been cancelled or put back a day. Do they think you can change your life around all the time to suite them.People go to work, have other commitments etc which have to be sorted out in advance. The current situation is just the tip of the iceberg for my reason not to attend speedway any more at Stoke.Perhaps this isnt there fault directly but when were the drains last cleaned out? Water accumulates on that first bend and doent drain away. Could this have been avoided? I would put money on it that next Saturdays stock car meeting goes ahead.I notce that even the long serving press man and announcer has also thrown the towel in this year, season ticket prices went up and they are charging for a programme this year which has been included in admission costs for years. Dont think it will be long now for the place shuts up shop for good.

Feel for you Eddie, hope you can still get to watch some speedway, all the best for the future

Mick, that is a good point. As the stocks/bangers don't require a good track, they could run. They ought to be cancelled to give the track time to be sorted but revenue may outweigh this. Commonsense suggests that they will do more harm than good if they race on the track as it is.

The place is a rubbish hole run by a bunch of clowns, I can't believe all this crap trying to defend the fact that a meeting has been cancelled due to a rubbish track, why is it in this condition in the first place ????

I'm sure there are but they don't listen or take advice from anyone hence the reason the speedway is in it's present state.

In the past, the attitude of parts of the promotion was 'if you don't like it (how it is), don't come again' and many don't go. Several have stated on here that they would return to watching Stoke but major changes would have to happen.

Maybe this will help you decide how the track work is going, last Saturday 13th April as you can see it's being looked at urgently.

Boozer, Those photo's were taken on the 5th April according to the folder it's in mate and there were no stock cars on Sunday 13th April as it should have been Stoke v Buxton I understand.

I was told some remedial track work was due to take place in the past week, but I do not know how it has gone with no longer being involved.

Has there been further stock car meetings this bank holiday ? If so what's the state of the track ? Be good to hear from someone who has seen it first hand

Yes, there has been stocks over this weekend.

I think the remedial work Stoke are hoping for is more sunshine, it wont cost them anything.

I have respect for MV but for Stoke Speedway to publically say they are trying to get the Track fit for Speedway, then to allow Stocks on said Track, really is treating Speedway supporters as if they are fools, it really wont wash. Do Stoke want Speedway ? then we have the Plymouth situation thats another big cock up down there, in this day and age people just wont put up with it..
