I thought the track was far below its best. Made a comment that it was far slicker than normal with no grip up the insides to make passes. All passes were out wide. Hopefully the dirt and grip will be back for Friday. Shamek clearly struggled with conditions as did Milik bucking and rearing and Holder struggling to make up ground. Under normal circumstances Poole would have had this sewn up earlier but Coventry battled. I poo pooed Hansen but he was the pick of the opposition and deserved his points. For Poole. Holder very rusty and it showed. Can and will get better. Josh started slowly but came to the party when it mattered. Shamek was woeful. His worst ever meeting. Milik did good but threw away a paid win. Magic was Magic. Newman was motm. Brilliant Kyle. Smart least said the better. For Coventry. Hans was OK Fisher battled. Hansen was pick of the Bees. Howarth battled Harris had one good ride.. Both reseveres did OK. So a misfiring Pirates march on to Friday with what looks like a tough couple of meetings. There is no way on earth you can actually believe that. 2 NL wobblers against Newman!! You will score 55-60 points at your place and then take all 4 points at ours. Howarth is in an elite league main body and Newman isnt so i think its fair to say Howarth is the better rider As he proved last night, no doubt!!!!??? On another topic, for those not at the stadium last night - could anyone still hear stand-in presenter Clive Fisher??!! Goodness me, he was LOUD last night - a combination of a tweaked PA system and Clive's natural enthusiasm no doubt!!! I don't think I'll bother going to Blunsdon on Friday - I'll just listen to Clive from home - in Bournemouth!!!!! (Welcome back on Friday, Nigel!!!!!) superguest Posted April 15, 2014 Report Share Posted April 15, 2014 If the better reserves keep getting high scores and end up with a high average, what happens next season for them? I particularly enjoyed the commentary saying about British youngsters battling it out in front... when it was the reserves race. The averages will be used to create a new draft order next year I believe. Riders like Newman and Garrity would probably need to be moved on, but whether they will get the choice is another matter. Have to say that if Anderson/Harris performed better it would have been very close and I cannot see much difference between both teams. And the SKY coverage seemed much better/slicker than we have seen before. enjoyable match and good dices between Newman and Howarth,but lets not get carried away they are only racing other riders of similar standard in most races,it is really 2 matches in 1 whatever way you look at it.very watered down EL.IMO. Mark Posted April 15, 2014 Report Share Posted April 15, 2014 really good meeting with some fearless riders on show the track was still awful in places. its not right that riders are seen to bounce into a corner and lose contact with the track because of an uneven surface. all winter to fix it and nothing done. the resereves are going to have a huge say in who wins a meeting but that has always been the case. Luckily then that the rules are in place so they dont then! Only tweak that needs sorting out is the away number 4 having to wait until heat 5 for his first ride. Living in Kent, I have started watching the Kings at Sittingbourne (but supporting the Storm when they come there!) and although these are only NL riders, they really love to race and if that rubs off on the EL reserves, then I for one am looking forward to this season. Wayne Broadhurst was never as good as Tommy Knudsen and Kelvin Tatum. Stephen Morris wasnt as good as Sam Ermolenko and Ronnie Correy. We've always had reserve riders. Crazy robin Posted April 15, 2014 Report Share Posted April 15, 2014 Decent meeting and some really good racing but they have had all off season to sort the track out and its still terrible, cost us points and made it more difficult than it should have been. Newman and janowski were superb and Milik looks a good find, Shamek had a bad one but we all know he is much better than that and Holder was a bit wary of the track and obviously didn't want to risk too much after Hans left him no room having just come back from serious injury. I just hope that once Chris gets his confidence back he doesn't suffer from not wanting to put himself in places that could result in him getting injured again.
