Robinh88
I could have attended zielona gora tarnow yesterday... hampel vaculik and that world class buczkowski on display. But instead I thought id get more value at the home of speedway so berwick glasgow it was. Passion intensity complete unpredictability a few of the words I would to describe what I witnessed when I attend the Jancarz stadion We may not have the alps but the air that comes off the north sea is pure. Couple that with the racing, riders, fans, racing who needs the alps? We've got cockler and spittal beach two chippies within five minutes walk. Its not hard to see why we have been chosen Edited April 13, 2014 by RobinH88
racers and royals
Glorious ignorance by the looks of it in that post !! Actually, Sankt Johann im Pongau (just under an hour's drive south of Salzburg) has been a regular host for many years of whatever round is allocated to Austria in the Grand Prix or World Under-21 qualifiers. It's not difficult to find out what it looks like ... simply put "speedway st johann" into a google-search and it'll take you to 13-minutes on youtube of last year's SGP-qualifier at the track ... or put "st johann im pongau" into a google-map-search and then it's easy to spot the track just north of the town centre on the satellite-view. I don't know why the local club in St Johann can't stage their allocated SGP-qualifier but I can easily see why, once it needed to be re-allocated, the FIM have gone to Berwick because St Johann's track is also around a football pitch with relatively thin straights. St Johann is 380-metres per lap so it's marginally longer than Shielfield Park ... and instead of a factory behind the pits bend at Berwick (and the North Sea coast only a mile away), you get a backdrop of stunning Alpine meadows and mountains at St Johann !! But any riders already scheduled to ride their SGP-qualifier in St Johann can't complain they're being sent to a totally different type of speedway track with this re-route to Berwick at a couple of months' notice. They probably moved it because the track was a big problem for the qualifier-think it was Rosco who tweeted a photo of them re-laying it. Robinh88
You ask the local poles have you ever been to berwick speedway? I got this reply Poland is traditionally known as the home of speed. But when I saw the starting posts the engines revving I soon was hooked seeing liam and steen get that five one in heat 2 I forgot about leszno my homeland. I couldn't argue

Paulco
That was minging and freezing . Speedway should be a summer sport , freezing our bollocks off watching that rubbish shoukld be a criminal offence . Bellego and Vissing were untouchable , but against us that isnt saying a lot . Wolbert turned in yet another disappointing performance , luckily Berwick's number one was equally as minging . Harrison gated and was gone in his first ride and that basically was it , Theo was equally as ineffective . Only our youngsters , Berge and Thomsen , were up for the fight and willing to mix it . Best race of the night , and only actual race , was heat 14 . Lemon gated and was that slow in front that the other 3 riders couldnt fail to be breathing down his neck and Wethers eventually wore him down . Freezing cold night with boring racing , not really what the paying public want Edited April 13, 2014 by Paulco

YAMYAMBANDIT
At last, some proper discussion! The shape restrictions due to the football pitch probably just keep it out Europe's top tracks. What you say about everything that is required to put on a quality speedway meeting is so much more than opening the gates and preparing a track. It's something that is overlooked by most fans. All the promoters around the country, every meeting they put on, have a massive amour of work to do for each meeting. This is what annoys the more rational posters on here. It is totally disrespectful to the many, many people around the country that sacrifice a lot of their time - often for free - to make sure we have speedway. I have never seen one of the moaners even think about lifting a finger. Probably incapable and too busy living in their pretend world of self-importance on the t'Internet. Taffy, I should note, although you jump and moan sometimes, you have and continue to support the riders year-after-year, so I do not include you in this comment. Very good post Halifaxtiger. Thanks for the compliment, at least I think that is what it was, don't get one very often (only at work). So far the track this season is good, room for improvement though, all I ask is this standard is maintained and is consistant all season. Unlike like previous seasons where some of the differences from week to week could be quite dramatic. Don't give me a reason to moan and I won't Edited April 14, 2014 by TOURETTES

I have to agree it wasn't a classic, and I think you guys need to punt a couple of the riders who are over the hill. Paulco
Aye Bigeddie , got as far as the back straight and got chatting and that was as far as I got . Only had the one pint before the meeting and discovered watching the Tigers away from home sober isn't much fun

Robinh88
Lemo has looked slow since 2012 when he scored 3 here. Berwick broke him he's never recovered former glories
Paulco
He's 41 , so it's unlikely he is . Lemon though isn't the problem . 6 points from him away from home is perfectly acceptable . When your number 1 scores something similar meeting after meeting however , then you are in trouble .

MD
Edinburgh home and away this weekend doesn't auger well with Cook and reserves that can bang in 20+ points. Perhaps it'll be a week on Sunday that Wolbert starts his season!
