Redcar V Newcastle (lc) Thursday 10th April

Recommended Posts

So, just after the reverse fixture at Brough Park Diamonds fans would be feeling confident about this match and Bears fans apprehensive,,,now a week later Redcar have had two thumping wins and looked very convincing while Newcastle have had two defeats and the less patient fans are already calling for changes

Of course the standard of the opposition in each case could be a contributing factor, but it all adds up to an interesting clash, with the added intrigue of a potential new Bear riding at no 4.

I think it will be a close meeting, Diamonds always go well round STMP, and result could hinge on which Lindgren turns up, the one who rode like Freddie a couple of times last season, or the one who resembled Dolph Lundgren  also have Diamonds got their machine issues sorted.

Hopefully a good track again and a safe meeting, hope our centregreen man doesn't gets too confused over his allegiances!!

Likely teams:

Bears

1. Richard Lawson

2. Carl Wilkinson

3. Hugh Skidmore

4. r/r (or ????)

5. Aaron Summers

6. Jan Graversen

7. Luke Crang

Diamonds

1. Freddie/Dolph Lindgren

2. Christian Henry

3. Stuart Robson

4. Lewis Kerr

5. Anton Rosen

6. Chris Schramm

7. Lewis Rose

I think this could be a cracker (particularly if the track is as it was at the end of last season rather than the beginning). Looking forward to it already.

The track was excellent last week, imo the best it has been for years so fingers crossed will be like that again.

As said, should be a really close meeting. Lindgren was superb here last year, and most of the Diamonds go well here. Bears win, but not by much.

That is good news. When its good, STMP is up there with the best.

Redcar Bears boss Brian Havelock is racing against time to find a temporary replacement after winter recruit Richard Hall was handed a 30-day ban by the Speedway Control Bureau following his attack on Scunthorpe’s Josh Auty at the Lincolnshire circuit on Sunday.

The Ecco Finishing Bears face local rivals Newcastle at the South Tees Motorsports Park tomorrow and Havelock not only has to find an available rider of sufficient quality to fill the number four jacket, but also get the move ratified by the sport’s authorities in time.

Hall clashed and came down with Auty in the Bears’ 50-37 victory over the Scorpions and, having regained his feet, walked across and kicked the former Bears rider – a team-mate for two years when they both rode for Sheffield.

Hall was fined and thrown out of the rest of the meeting by referee Peter Clarke and subsequently issued a comprehensive apology but the SCB have acted swiftly to increase the punishment.

In a statement the Control Bureau stated: “Taking everything into account the penalty is that Hall’s SCB registration will be suspended for 30 days with effect from Monday gone.”

Havelock was furious after the incident which marred a second successive impressive victory for the Bears.

He said: “I intend to redeclare my 1-7 by bringing in a temporary replacement and will then have to review the situation at the end of the month.”

Speculation as to who might step in is rife but the Bears are giving nothing away until any deal is signed sealed and delivered.

Fans eagerly hope that whoever arrives can help give the Bears a flying start to the season
