greyhoundp
Im really interested to see how Kent go in this meeting, it will give us far more of an idea, how they are going to perform over the season, yes they will do well over the season, Champs that remains to be seen, injuries i feel will play a big part over this season, for all Teams. P T Preece
Quite enjoyed that, a great race in heat 4 between Lambert and Perry and again in heat 11 with Sarjeant, very windy afternoon but the rain kept off, a bit cold though, unusally there wasnt many falls on the 3rd/4th bend as you normally see. Well run meeting and with the threat of rain they got on with it, not the best meeting Ive ever seen but these lads give it there all, NL track record holder Max clegg 64.62s and Lambert retained the bronze helmet from Sarjeant, some EL clubs could learn form this level on how to run a smooth meeting, no faffing about just get on with it. I agree that the meeting was well run - took just 90 minutes (but no interval) but thought the presentation could have been better. E.g. presenter only started introducing Leicester team as they left the track and no explanation of how the National Trophy competition works or what teams are in it. I was pleased to see Max have a good win in the fastest ride of the match.

Any further comment after the defeat at Leicester on Sunday? Im really interested to see how Kent go in this meeting, it will give us far more of an idea, how they are going to perform over the season, yes they will do well over the season, Champs that remains to be seen, injuries i feel will play a big part over this season, for all Teams. Now we have a pointer after the result at Leicester. Was the defeat a blip or is it a hurried return to the drawing board?
Islander15
Gustix I think it's neither. Leicester are a very good team and as many previously observed Fremantle is an important team member!
greyhoundp
The Leicester (select) Team, were selected mainly from Cradley & Coventry riders, both will be up in the Play Offs, and its down at reserve where the Leicester (select) tale is told, how is it, that a Team in its 3/4 th season cant even find 2 reserves of its OWN ? there are plenty of unattached riders around, but NO Leicester chose to pick 2 reserves from other teams, which tells me Leicester (select) want to try to win the NT. To be honest looking at the Teams and form of the riders, if Kent had won this i would have been amazed, they were not disgraced in defeat, but definately you need Brandon back asap, and your other reserve Daniel Blake is proving to me what i thought when he was announced, he simply isnt what you need. They are called the Leicester Lion cubs not leicester Select. Where I agree that it is difficult to grasp the 'Trophy only' concept I hope it is a success. Tom Wooley is probably the closest thing to local. It would have been good to see Lee Geary in the side but with Buxton not starting their season till late Tom could probably do with the match practice but I hope Geary gets his chance. As for Shanes he started at Leicester (practice) but Coventry could offer him the NL place last year so it doesn't take a genius to work out who won that battle. Leicester need to build up an asset base if the draft system is to be continued and therefore need to dip their toe in the NL water and slowly learn the 'NL' trade. There would have been no point in including riders who the Leicester fans were unaware of. D Greenwood and O Greenwood have both ridden there in MDL finals and Sarjeant - Perry - Clegg have all ridden for the Lions. So plenty of connections with the club. A little bit rich coming from a Cradley supporter but...... Who do you suggest they include? Edited April 7, 2014 by TMW

Agree with what you say.Does seem strange they could put a team together - of other teams riders? They are DEFO hoping to win the NT. Kings were disappointing, and seemed a 2 man team (Lambert/Morley) last night. You could be right about Blake and I can see young Harris maybe coming into the team in the future. Also the Kings have FIVE away competitive fixtures before their 1st Home competetive meeting, which is tough.

It still baffles me how he hasn't got a PL team place again this season. Edited April 7, 2014 by TMW

A little bit rich coming from a Cradley Fan, ok you have mentioned the obvious one Lee Geary, Adam Portwood is another who comes to mind, the point Im making is WHY sign RESERVE riders who already have Team places ?.. A little bit rich coming from a Cradley fan Hmmmm, Im a Cradley fan by birth and by choice, however thats NOT to say i agree with ALL that goes on there ( I dont), for instance i would like to see us either run in the NT or put a Team in the MDL, the promotion have never come forward and said why they do neither. I would ask that just because i support Cradley on track, doesnt mean i agree with decisions made OFF Track.

Geary is a question to be fair and as I said before I hope he gets his chance in forth coming meetings.
Elmo
The team was built to the same points limit as all the national league teams and from what said on Sunday, they were asked to fill in when Buxton withdrew from the competition. I liked the team when it was named and have seen many ride there very well in the MDL. It will be interesting to see whether it develops into a fully fledged NL team next year, if you have the facility available you may as well try and use it to its maximum potential.
