eric i
I think 'wiped out' is a bit of an exaggeration, there was very little contact (if any) and Hall went down very easily! Having said that Auty is reckless and some times maybe a rider needs to, 'have a word' with him, shall we say, but this in no way justifies Hall kicking him as he lay on the track injured!! You are bang on. Auty does need to stop doing reckless moves but he could have had a broken back when Hall kicked him on the floor.

But because is past misdemeanours it appears some would argue that Auty was just getting what he deserved.

Yup totally agree with you, especially what happened to Anders. Hope he makes a full recovery BTW, and I hope Josh isn't injured.

clambo71
More to the point, when is Godfrey going to take some action by giving a rocket to some of his riders. Especially Birks and Auty who so far have produced very few points.
Cue Ball
Birks that scored double figures against Sheffield in his first meeting back from an extremely serious injury? I wasn't at the meeting today, but it sounds like Auty knocked Hall off and this is on the back of him knocking Hall off at Redcar on Thursday night. Hall was most probably, and quite rightly so, more than a bit peeved at the risk to himself and the no doubt hefty repair bill he has been left with. Not condoning kicking an injured rider laid on the track, but imagine it was a case of him lashing out in the heat of the moment rather than anything else. Very much doubt that he knew he was injured at the time. I've been watching Hall at Sheffield for years and not sure if I can ever remember him getting into a scrap before (feel free to correct me as my memory is a bit crap), I definitely wouldn't describe him as a thug or anything close to it. mikebv
'interesting' lack of sympathy for a man who left the track in an ambulance so far on this thread... If I have read correctly thus far, to summarise the majority of posts made... 'he deservedly got what was a long time coming to him but should have been on his feet when he received it'!!!! tough crowd 'in' this evening.... best of luck to auty, he can be a tad out of control, reckless and a danger to himself and others as we know but let's hope he is ok.. scunny1
Yeah Ash Birks has had so much track time due to a not at fault BROKEN BACK. Early days we are saving ourselves for the League when the proper stuff starts.

That sums it up, which is very sad IMO. We can debate Auty on another day, but today its the actions of Mr Hall that needs to be under scrutiny. Words fail me... Handbags at dawn, clouting each other whilst both are standing up....ok (ish). Kicking another rider whilst they are laying injured on the track...not ok. There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of behaviour, regardless of what has gone on before (and I say that as a neutral to both riders involved). I agree, I can never really understand the thought processes that says it is ok to harm another rider because they may have done it to you in the past. Motorbikes are dangerous items, especially at speed and the potential for injuries just far too high to ever justify twit for tat behaviour. Ok, maybe I am a bit soft but to be honest, there are far too many injuries in speedway as it is (and which I have to report on/pass news on via Updates) without the potential for more due to the silly notion of getting someone back for past transgressions.
montie
At the STMP on Thursday, Auty dive bombed and wiped hall out sending him flying into the air fence, I guess Auty had it coming, he tends to be a bit reckless, though toe to toe would have been fairer. You mean Hall ran wide...Auty passed him and Hall jumped off Today was 4 riders going for it on first bend,Auty and Hall came together and that was it,,,Im all for rider adding a bit of entertainment with a few handbags, all good fun,but to walk up and kick someone when laid out on track I pain is below the belt Even more so with what had happened last Thursday with Anders Mellgren <attempt to get round swear filter removed>
Broadsider
Granted JA does take commited to another level at times but putting the boot into a fellow pro when he's down is mindless and an embarrassing professional low for RH. Only three meets in and Scorpions sadly looking shot to bits! Need to stick together, dig deep and hold our nerve until the cavalry arrive! Albert
Surprised it wasn't n all 4 back decision, it just seemed like a typical bend one collision to me, certainly nothing that could be described as wreckless... Shame there's no video crew at Scunny to prove one way or the other. However, there 's no excuse for Halls reaction, it was bang out of order, it'll be interesting to see how the authorities deal with him. As for the meeting, there was some really good racing. Redcar ran out deserved winners, bit more ruthless than Scunny out the gate. For Scunny, we can take heart out of the return of Ryan Douglas, a bright spot in what's been a disappointing, injury hit start to the campaign. EC Rides Again
A lot of opinions from people who were not even there today, hey ho ! Josh can be a bit reckless and can be a menace to others and himself on occasion, but my God he's the kind of rider who tries his heart out and is a real racer. Is he lying in Scunthorpe hospital tonight with a serious injury ? Do some people even care ? Hall was reasonably aggrieved that he was knocked off by Josh, but Auty had made the gate from 1 and was heading for the dirt, Hall was off 4 and just assumed that it was OK to screw it on and ride around the fence unencumbered. The two riders tangled and both had a nasty spill. What followed was sad and also pretty shocking. One of the bikes (Auty's ?) was still revving and I assumed Hall had picked himself up and was looking to turn the engine off, instead he waded into Josh and put the boot into a rider lying prostrate on the track. Auty rightly excluded from the re-run and Hall rightly disqualified from the rest of the meeting and facing a fine from the referee.
hulvik
I was at the meeting and watched it the incident was just first bend bunching nothing more that all four riders wanting the same bit of track .Auty was laying on the ground clearly In pain when Hall kicked him (Auty looks to have torn his leg ligerments) Hall was thrown out of the meeting and finded. Personally I feel the BSPA should take further action and ban Hall for at least two months I'd like to thing the Promoter's at Redcar would also punish Hall would clearly to no notice that Auty was badly hurt but having seen the redcar fans reaction both at the meeting and on the forum I doubt it I know Auty isn't an angel but I have yet to see him kick another rider as they lay injured on the track
Halifaxtiger
Maybe the keys to the ambulance were in Autys helmet and Richard was just trying to get them out .......or something.... Apparently they were in the door of the ambulance..............watching a crowd of officials trying to find them out on the track was both bizarre and hilarious, aided very much by Mr Godfrey's droll commentary. Why ? That's quality stuff from Hall . We need more of that in speedway , nothing gets the crowd going more than a known villian thumping somebody . Might get the fans back through the turnstiles if they thought they might get a bit of contraversy . Newport v Glasgow the night before Cardiff used to be packed to the rafters and i'll bet a good percentage of the crowd only went because they knew something contraversial usually happened in that fixture . No, we don't. There's a great deal of difference between fisticuffs (which are usually little more than handbags) between two riders and booting a potentially seriously injured opponent who is lying prostrate on the track. Personally, I hope Hall gets a ban, because it was sickening - I haven't seen anything like it in the 10 seasons I have been watching speedway and I hope I don't see it again. Surprised it wasn't n all 4 back decision, it just seemed like a typical bend one collision to me, certainly nothing that could be described as wreckless... For Scunny, we can take heart out of the return of Ryan Douglas, a bright spot in what's been a disappointing, injury hit start to the campaign. I thought the decision to exclude Auty was correct as he came off his line but it certainly wasn't reckless. It was a typical EWR high quality meeting, with the highlight being Douglas' superb pass of Wilkinson and Lawson.
