DIAMONDS
Does anyone know if Mellgren is ok?
Albert
The rule is in place this year in the EL. That's something then, a step in the right direction :-) ... shame it doesn't apply to all levels though.
eric i
First of all, hope Anders Mellgren is ok, seemed to take a nasty fall and he sounded in an awful lot of pain. But I thought Redcar were excellent tonight. Lawson was just absolutely superb. Gated well, and even before he got to the first bend was looking for his teammate every time. Summers was laos superb, did well in his last two rides to let Lawson sneak through for win. Biggest plus for me were the 2 reserves. Graversen had a great night, and rode pretty hard as well - whilst I thought Crang had an excellent home debut. Was slightly disappointed in Scunthorpe, and think Douglas must have ridden over many black cats on his way to the track. Didnt have a clear view of heat 1 crash, but thought Auty was very very unlucky to be excluded in heat 9 - i didnt think he touched Hall. I know you can only beat whats out there, but hopefully brings a little bit more optimism back, certainly for home meetings. Would also say that I thought the track was excellent tonight. Very smooth, and provided some lines to pass on. A bit of A and a bit of B i think. Obviously losing Mellgren hit the Scorps, but at the same time expected more from the likes of Auty tonight. Bears just gated better tonight, and looked quick. I thought the track was very difficult to pass on, it looked like it needed more dirt and more moisture in it, probably prepared it expecting rain. redlead
Poor night for The Scorpions, didn't see that result coming to be honest. Big improvement required. Well done Redcar, sounds like your 1-7 all rode extremely well and took advantage of Scunnies misfortune. I know it wouldn't of made much difference to the score tonight... but why oh why, for the good of speedway.... why can't the R/R rule be utilised when a No1 gets injured in his first ride?. Expecting the reserves to carry a No1 is a big ask. It gets talked about a lot but has the rule ever been considered by the powers that be? To be fair in this instance, if Ryan Douglas hadn't ran over a black cat and broken several mirrors, I think he would have more than covered for Anders. I don't think I've seen a rider so out of luck than Ryan last night. With the Bears all pulling together, I don't think a full Scunny team would have changed the result much. montie
Redcar i thought were brilliant from the traps and never looked back, that was where it was won ,it was pretty much game over after first bend Must say Redcars airfence looked really good and seems alot of work has been done on the track over winter--looked really good Hope Mellgren is feeling better today ,was an awfull awfull crash which Scunny never recovered from, plus after that everything that could go wrong did go wrong How Ryan Douglas came away from there with 3 points i will never know,he did look like the only rider that could make a pass all night, think he will need some new chains today!!! Anyone else have the view that his exclusion on a tack rider a little harsh, sneaky little lefty from Wilko maybe??? Ryan seemed to line him up a treat on home straight??? add that to Graversen who seemed to spend the whole night trying to put him in the fence!!! Auty also unlucky with his exclusion against Hall--no contact at all Deserved full house from Lawson and Luke Crang looked good, nice to see two British riders as reserve scoring points Hall copped some flack on here when signed but is there a rider in the league who is better to watch??? Redcar do look a nice team and with what looks like a good track again now a sweet season ahead for the Bears had my eyes out with the program though----i dont want to read about Berwick!!! StevePark
Scunny can't be getting the averages down already??..... Recipe to win the league that I don't think the League Cup counts towards the averages, otherwise Anton Rosen would get a proper average after last night and Redcar next Thursday, rather than after Peterborough and Berwick in the PL. Not so. Rule 16.2.1 (page 37) of 2014 rule book lists the League Cup matches (in the group stage)and Premier League matches as applicable to Rolling Averages.

Previously of course the split of fixtures was used as a reason to disregard them but with the additional league fixtures this year that wouldnt hold up as valid. So then Abbott what is Rosens new average for next week??

Didn't stop Richard Hall going from last to first around the boards? So hardly difficult.

Boobs
No idea! I can only say "what I've been told"!!! 16.2.1 ESTABLISHED MA’s are calculated on a “Rolling” basis, for a specified number of applicable Meetings, taking account of the number of Heats and Points (excluding Bonus Points) that a Rider has scored. The applicable Meetings are: Elite League: League Meetings, excluding the Play-Offs Premier League: League Cup mini-League Meetings & regular League Meetings National League: League Meetings, excluding the Play-Offs. NB: (Double) points scored as a TR will count at 50%. FTDP Riders in the EL and all Riders appearing as a Guest or as a #8 are ignored. stoneylegend
Made the trip to south tees last night just to see what challenge awaits the Comets ;-) A decent meeting despite the one sided scoreline, I felt Scunthorpe had lot of bad luck on the night more especially Ryan Douglas who is one entertaining rider better luck next time:-0 but credit to the Bears who looked good all night nice to see Lawson flying even after the horrific crash in heat 1 hopes mellgren is ok.... Anyone got any news on his condition? Forgot to mention the track also looked good last night well prepared and seemed consistant.
