Soul Crew
Taking someone to Wolves in a couple of weeks, they are a student but are in there 20's. Question is do they still qualify as a concession? And also what kind of ID would they need, as apparently NUS cards no longer exist and most places just accept the colleges own id cards? Well, most places used to only accept NUS cards. I went to an independent music college which didn't even say the year start-end date on it, and most places still accepted it. AndyJ
To be on the safe-side perhaps this is a question best asked directly of the club...? http://wolverhamptonwolves.co/page.php?
Soul Crew
To be on the safe-side perhaps this is a question best asked directly of the club...? http://wolverhamptonwolves.co/page.php?8 Have you ever tried interacting with them? Blood and stone springs to mind. I had a group party of over 16 people (All newbies) who were interested going along and taking advantage of a group package last season and I gave up in the end due to a total lack of professionalism.
AndyJ
Not good. Honestly thought Wolves were one of the more proactive of speedway promotions

NUS cards do exist. I got one about 6 weeks ago. Great thing. I would imagine that any uni/college ID would be acceptable.
Soul Crew
I was led to believe that only NUS Extra exists now?
trophykid
University Students are often from well off middle class back grounds, who could afford to go if they wanted. Better to target people on the national minimum wage or school kids from deprived areas if you wanted to give discounts.

I mean, I'll discount the fact that student loans barely cover what you are expected to use them to pay for, but to suggest that everyone is well off is utter nonsense.

I didn't say everyone is well off, did I? Read the post. University students very often, but not always come from well off back grounds. I'd target people who genuinely can't pay. I'd target people who genuinely can't pay. But what you are posting is complete nonsense. Very often still does a disservice to students who have to have jobs as well as studying just to pay their bills! Yes, there will always be the lucky few who take their student loan, and also get help from family, but for the vast majority they cut their cloth accordingly, rack up huge debt and then hope to get a minimum wage job when they get out, because that's all that appears to be going! Frankly, I find it insulting that you would believe that "[they] are often from well off middle class backgrounds" after the hard work and huge debt I, and many others, put in to try and get a foothold on the job market!
SCB
Maybe if those on minimum wage and from deprived areas (and isn't all of Wolverhampton deprived? ) got off their arse, maybe got themselves educated, they could be the next middle class. *For the record my post is not to be taken serious. trophykid
Blimey Vog, we'll have to agree to disagree on this on . I recognise the struggle you have outlined, however walk a mile in the shoes of people who have no prospects, little access to education, and don't have your life choices. My contention was that there are more deserving sections of society who should qualify for discounts. This is fairly uncontroversial. If your insulted by that, then you really need to grow a thicker skin. Best wishes fella.

Turn the clock back to a time before student fees and I would maybe agree slightly with your view, but nowadays when many students are racking up debts of almost 30k before they've even taken living expenses into account, I'd say you're way off the mark. In fact, many students from less well off backgrounds, struggle less when grants and bursaries are taken into account.
Gemini
is it the same at all clubs ??? I'm pretty sure you'd get a reply from Coventry as Neil Watson is good enough to correspond on here with the lower classes who attend Speedway. I was going to say don't set SCB off, but it looks like I'm too late.

One of THE biggest problems with current society is this notion that things should just be handed out on a plate. Shouldn't be too difficult to organise a pricing policy on the lines of :- Adults £17 Students from well off backgrounds £16-50 Students from working class backgrounds £13 Kids from deprived areas £5 People whom have never had a chance in life £1 The Great Unwashed FREE.
