YerRopes
I too wish Darryl a speedy recovery, he hasn't had much luck with injuries lately and I do hope he gets another chance with Swindon soon.. Also good luck and a warm welcome to Dan Greenwood on joining the 'Rockinest' Robins..
Gresham78
I think the only winner last night was the weather. I've got no issues with Coventry winning but it was a miserable night. Can't imagine it was very nice to ride in those conditions and it certainly wasn't much fun watching even I should imagine for the Bees fans. When the weather's like it was the Abbey's a pretty desolate place. Just to cap it off poor Daryl has a horror accident and my best wishes go to him for a speedy recovery. Just one further point; did anyone have a tea from the burger van on bend 2? It was revolting, tasted like disinfectant. I guess they could have used it to clean the back straight bogs! Come to think it of it perhaps that's where they got the water from to make it....
fliss44
Sorry to hear that Darryl's injuries are worse than they were first reported/suspected -- very unfortunate so soon into the season -- get well soon x
SCB
No doubt about that. I said to my dad before heat 10, i'll be amazed if the Robins riders don't play for time here. And if the Cov riders tried it on withe the scores the other way round, you and I would probably be on here calling them sly, devious gits, amongst other things. But seeing it from a completely neutral point of view, you pay to watch a competition, you should see the rules applied consistently and fairly, so the product is transparent, everyone knows where they stand. There was no difference in visibility between heats 8, 9 or 10, if thats what the ref was saying he called it off for. So for the 2 minutes not to come on straight after the riders had cleared the track from heat 10, then clearly it was just done out of convenience. As soon as the ref says "we'll just get this heat done" knowing that the conditions are far from ideal, just because he wants to home in time for question time and cant be bothered to rearrange the meeting, its no longer a competition that the fans payed for, its just an exhibition. You don't see F1 and MotoGP going "we'll call it a day at the end of this lap, lads". It either stops there and then because its unsuitable for racing, or it carries on. Its a professional sport, not a Christmas day game of monopoly thats dragged on for 5 hours too long. To me it just summed up the way the sport is run over here at the moment, every decision in this sport is made with a shrug of the shoulders, without any thought what so ever for the people that are helping to keep the sport shambling along, the paying public. I know its not a new observation, but it just seems extraordinary to me how many years this has been going on for, yet the people who run it haven't cottoned on. So what wouold your solution be? Call it off before heat 10, leave the Coventry fans pissed off they had been robbed of a win, leave Swindon fans pissed off because they paid full price and saw only 9 heats but would get a £1 refund and then what? Once a meeting has started, IMO, the teams and referee have an obligation to see a meeting run to it's conclusion -and thats heat 15, not heat 10 as it the cut off. There will obviously be times this is nearly impossible so will have to be cut short but calling it off at heat 9 (or sooner) would not be the answer either. As for F1 and Moto-GP ended races early, big motorsports do see it happen. in fact Nascar has finished under yellow flags quite a lot for a start. First and foremost the consideration should be for rider safety - sending them out in heavy rain is totally irresponsible!

remembertheracers
For Swindon to announce Dan Greenwood as Darryl's replacement this morning seemed in indecent haste given the seriousness of his injuries. By all means set it up but it totally lacked class to release it so early. It was an awful crash, a zero entertainment meeting with dismal presenters, abysmal music and a total turn off. Dont like to judge early but Nikolai Klindt looks like the rider of 2013, what little bottle he ever had is gone. Bad signing. Also on Andy Warren's twitter there is evidence of ref D. Robinson's aggressive verbal and physical behaviour towards Alun Rossiter. His running of Heat 10 was downright dangerous. All good wishes to Darryl Ritchings, get well soon son. If he was being aggresive would he not be look at Rosco and Rwsco looking at him?
Chalkie
Is it me ? Wasn't Gustafsson supposed to let Pedersen win on a tactical ride. Just about sums up our performance last night. Having been absent from the forum since Thursday night's farce (self-imposed because I couldn't trust myself and could have received a lifetime ban had I expressed my real thoughts!) I find it interesting to read all the points of view-it was not a good night for Swindon, speedway in general and the referee specifically. The point above probably misses the point that because Simon was so far in front, had he slowed to allow Bjarne past, Fisher was so close to Bjarne that he would have passed Simon as well turning a 7-1 into a 7-2. So in the final analysis it would have made very little difference. That said, my appetite for Speedway has been sorely dented by what we were served up last week. I'll be there again this week (weather permitting) but please God let it be a better £17 worth next time. Oh yeah, some old(er) man following Rosco looking to the side, he look really nasty. If he was being aggresive would he not be look at Rosco and Rwsco looking at him?
