HadrianDog
OOh err, these 2014 Rebels look a touch fragile. Maybe the Diamonds can turn a few heads down south, let alone the return fixture come Sunday 'weather permitting' and give the champs a thrashing.
CardinalSin
I think its just the opposite - Cam needs more racing not less. The bone doesnt need to heal anymore and the pain is gone - just needs to get race fit and back in the groove. If the pain has gone as you say, then that at least is good news and we can stop using that as an excuse. I thought he showed signs of improvement last week, but went backwards tonight which is disappointing. He looks nothing like the Cameron Heeps we all know at the moment, but it's very early days so hopefully over the coming weeks he can ride himself back in to form. On the plus side the rest have started very well. Gino looks super quick once he gets going and he even made a couple of decent starts. He has admitted his gating isn't great and that's something he's going to work on this year so he's only going to get better which is exciting. Looks a very handy asset. Risager is looking very sharp too. Early days obviously but if we can get Cam going, I think we could have a good year. Looking forward to see how we fare away from home. Willowman
A bit quiet on here from the Rebels select What? And no mention of the Workington contributor either? Rebels & co had no answer to a Witches side on fire. Watch out Workington, they will be challenging for your title!

Siggytastic
The meeting wasn't too bad with a few interesting heats but its a pity that the outside doesn't seem to work anymore. if Nicholls and Gollob were here now, they would struggle to make it work. Well, perhaps not but it would make for better racing.

Well, perhaps not but it would make for better racing. There just doesn't seem to be any grip out wide at the moment, the track is looking pretty slick and doesn't seem as much material out there as we've seen in previous seasons? As you rightly say, anyone trying that wide outside line are going nowhere fast.
CardinalSin
There's lots of material out there, but it doesn't seem to be binding. One or two riders found a line to dip the back wheel in, but several just got stuck. When Trackman Bob was blading after the meeting, in prep for the weekend stock cars, there were big piles of shale being collected. Not sure if the track is still recovering from the winter? Bob couldn't get on it for ages because it was so wet. There definitely doesn't seem as much material as last year. Perhaps my eyes are starting to play tricks with me. I'm no expert on track preparation, and certainly don't want to annoy Mr Ellis who is very well respected and I know he reads this forum. It's just my observation that to me the track looks slicker with less material than years gone by.
Arch Stanton
I actually agree that it's looking slick and devoid of shale but Lovey makes a good point about the weather. It's been ridiculously wet just about everywhere this winter which has made it impossible to do too much work. I went Peterborough the other day and it was very similar, as was Rye. I'm sure things will improve as the season goes on.
Baldyman
Just a sprinkle of water during the meeting would surely help those that want to use the outside. For some reason we very rarely water the outside during the meeting, there must be a reason for that?
Baldyman
So if the riders don't want the outside watered, then there isn't going to be many outside passes. I guess since its what they get paid for, they want what's working for them, and hugging the curb seems to be working. Why would they want to be overtaken and lose money

CardinalSin
I have found out that the weather and related track conditions prevented the rebuilding of the banking over the winter. There has subsequently been a delay with supply of the new dirt, so the remedial work has not been done ... it should start in the next couple of weeks. Apparently the outside is only watered if there are dust problems, or at the request of the riders, i.e. they didn't want it watered on Thursday. Nice work detective Lovey!
