Glasgow V Edinburgh , Blow Up Fence Challenge 2nd Leg . Sun March 30th 2014 @3p.m.

Disappointed but not downhearted . True it's never nice to be defeated by ones so smug , but there was enough to give us heart for the rest of the season . Rusty was superb , the way he flew round the team riding Golden Child and whoever his partner was , was really special . Pijper and Lemon were steady and Agent Wolbert wont have to ride against his paymasters every week . Dimitri Berge got better as the meeting progressed and the signs are he'll do alright once he settles into Premier League racing . The two reserves are giving us the most encouragement though , and as neither can gate for toffee we are in for some exciting moments from them both .

As for the Smug septet , well they flluked the win thanks mainly to the lesser Worrall and the annointed one . Steve Worrall's brother was obviously sneaked into his kevlars while nobody was looking and St Craig serenely breezed to an effortless maximum .

Much sterner tests are to come in the coming weeks and we will have to up a level among a couple of our ranks , but i think we'll be a mid table side at least .

Brilliant! You have a way with words Mr Paulco.

My first visit to Ashfield in a while was very enjoyable. Lots of great action and plenty of positives from both sides. Well done to all the riders for putting on two great shows this weekend, especially as they weren't getting paid.

I think once the Kaiser gets dialled in to the Ashfield track, Glasgow will have a very entertaining team who will prove very difficult to beat at home. I'm a big fan of his and may even be tempted west a few times even when Embra are not the visitors. Rusty and the two reserves were particularly exciting to watch today, and I think young Dimitri could become a firm fans favourite.

For the victorious ones Cookie was sublime - it was a pleasure to watch him close up round bends one and two. Sam, Max & Stevie were also very good. Only worry we have is with Aaron, but he looks to have a decent style and was not far off the pace in either meeting, so hopefully once he gets confidence from scoring a few points he'll become a very useful member of the team.

Aaron has been strugling with bike problems over the two matches but he is going to cookies during the week for a few days to hopefully get it all sorted.

It is Poole's old air fence..............though whether Glasgow or Gordon Pairman owns it I have no idea...........we have a nice new shiny yellow one this year............
