Plymouth V Somerset (afc) 29/03/2014

Ooops! I even read the bit about Worrall before posting - Must have had a senior moment! Ah well all irrelevant now as we got a tonking anyway![/

Haha, wasn't really a surprise that they got hammered though was it? The only surprise was how badly Jensen rode. Newman not looking for Jensen when he was on a tactical and Jensen being on a tactical in the first place as Kyle would have seemed to be the better option. Unfortunate about the injuries to Kalle and Roland, hope both have a speedy recovery.

I know it was only a challenge meeting but Somerset were the much stronger team on the night.

Impressive win by Rebels, Plymouth not the strongest side they will meet but can only beat what's put in front of them. Impressive debut by Brady who seems to be as good as his reputation and no weak links in team on that performance. Looks like the Gary May magic has rubbed off on the team.

Oh dear, terrible performance from the Devils.

They were awfully slow from the starts in the first half, but got better as the meeting progressed.

For Plymouth, Worrall was the star. Apart from Ht1, he was a joy to watch. Newman had one good ride.

Jensen was very poor, either just missing his partner or fence, all over the place. Reade is a major worry, finishing about a quarter of a lap behind in each of his races. Hardly noticed Samota at all. Benko unlucky to be leading when Kalle fell and was disqualified, then falling in the rerun. What about kamikaze Kalle? On the parade lap, he nearly took Newman off on bend 3. He CLEARLY hit Wrights leg in Ht2 and then spun off in the same place in Ht8. Needs to calm down a bit. Reminded us of Barker about 3-4 years go.

Really felt sorry for Wright. Wrongly disqualified in Ht2 then 2 chain breaks. Very unlucky. Very impressed with Starke.

The NL meeting was called off on the Friday, yet riders were practising all Saturday afternoon!

There were no bikes practicing on Saturday afternoon. I was there from 8.30am to until 10.30pm. Track prep was going on throughout the day. It was clear that running 2 events in one day with inclement weather would have been extremely difficult. Cannot understand why people would say practice happened when it never did!

Well it seems the council ain't happy with double header meetings as it contravenes their planning permission so the promoters will have a headache now trying to fit in the national league fixtures. Think they should be concentrating on getting a good premier team instead of wasting time on a bunch of has beens ( James Shane's excepted)

One assumes that anyone associated with the Demons together with the riders will be delighted to see your compelling assessment of their abilities

well having seen them ride for severel years at sba and not having improved at all I think it's a fair assessment that myself and the majority of supporters are thinking that they have reached the top end of their capabilities

Correct with your thinking that the majority of supporters are thinking they have reached the top end of their capabilities, but I think the majority of supporters are happy the club are operating a NL team, with a different team manager I don't know why anyone would think that binning the NL team would make the PL side any better, I think putting the Demons NL team together, didn't take to long to do, and i'm sure any club running two sides wouldn't think that way, if they did there wouldn't be a NL.

Whilst I wouldn't be as damning as some on here have been regarding the Demons, you have to admit RJ that a number of the Demons side have been around for some time and never really progressed beyond NL!

Smarty looked like he may do something with Stoke but then of course had that nasty injury up at Berwick which hasn't seen him the same since.

Tim and Ben have both had cracks at the PL which have been with very limited success but in Tim's case especially he has been off a bike for 18 months or so now so he will need bit of time before we see where his future lies.

I expected to see a lot more fresh faces - More in line with what the Stags have done. Mark my words the Stags will get tanked a lot early season but just like the Scunny NL sides of a couple seasons back, they will improve and will surprise a few. It's nice to know a number of younger lads are down there getting laps in though with potential spots up for grabs in the future. What I don't want the NL team to be is a fixture filler as that would slightly defeat the point of bringing through 'future Devils' whig is what this has been sold as in the main. It's a project though so time will tell.

In the meantime this is the Devils thread and I'm very much looking forward to catching my first glimpse of them this season at Rye on Saturday (even though I'm not expecting any points)!

So there definately weren't any bikes going around the track at anytime between 1.30 and 4.30 last Saturday afternoon?
