Swift Saint
VERY URGENT INFORMATION FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY CANCELLATION OF SUNDAY’S PRESS AND PRACTICE DAY The Stoke “Easy Rider” Potters very much regret that due to the continued wet weather taking place overnight and this morning that they have again had to cancel Press and Practice Day on Sunday 30th March and also the match against Kings Lynn in the afternoon. The Club is desperately sorry for this further cancellation but with the track covered in water and the material carefully laid so spongy and inconsistent there is no alternative but to cancel these events early and save further inconvenience to all concerned. Promoter Dave Tattum stressed his regret and further disappointment but feels that the riders would be unsafe in the conditions and an early call off possibly minimises inconvenience. “We arranged new Ambulance cover and with Kings Lynn so helpful in changing dates and here we are back at square minus two.” said Tattum. “I am not sure if we will have a formal Press Day now we will consider that in the days ahead.” he added. Stoke are at Mildenhall next Sunday in the National Trophy and then face a Challenge match against Buxton on 12th April. Team manager Malcolm Vasey said “I hope my riders can get a second half practice here and there before Mildenhall but others have had to ride this season with few practice opportunities we are not alone with this problem.” Edited March 29, 2014 by Proud Potter

Stokielee
Fine and dry all day and quite windy to give decent drying conditions. The Stoke Joke rolls on.
Mike.Butler
see my post in other thread. They should be told 'No challenges' until all official matches completed. I'm afraid that between them and Coventry they are robbing our sport of any credibiity it may still have.. The governance of speedway is an absolute joke.. and to think that the Football Association gets criticised!!

Halifaxtiger
The problem with Stoke Speedway threads is that some of the comments are entirely subjective and made by those with axes to grind against the promotion. If Stoke swept the board in the NL this season and then announced a major stadium upgrade and their return to the PL, there would still be those who were critical and a few more whose silence would be thunderous. griffo
Fine and dry all day and quite windy to give decent drying conditions. The Stoke Joke rolls on. It might be fine and windy on saturday its even dry today but on thursday it rained continuous all day, and on friday night there was the fact that in the evening the rain was torrential and it thundered and lightened for a good solid hour continously the track was flooded and no way could it be right regardless of the weather before Sunday as the track would be unsafe, oh and seeing the amount of matches cancelled this week, Stoke is not the only one But Hey oh Griffo
boozer
If Stoke swept the board in the NL this season and then announced a major stadium upgrade and their return to the PL, there would still be those who were critical and a few more whose silence would be thunderous. No possibility of that happening so it will be business as usual down at Stoke and that is the reason people are so critical, it's all talk and no action and always will be whilst the current promotion (and I use that term lightly) are in charge. Most of the lost and critical supporters would love a return to PL and I'm sure a lot would return but the chances of that happening are nil so it's a catch 22 situation with no winners. Stoke City have proved that success can double and treble the support but those same supporters are still critical if something doesn't suit and they are entitled to do so, in the case of Stoke speedway and I think even you must agree they are well entitled to after the shambles of the last few years.
