Gp`s Not On German Tv

Recommended Posts

Well that would probably be my only chance of watching them, personally. But Germany has borders with a few countries and i think the tv channels cross the border.I know one of my friends who lives a bit further north than me used to be able to watch danish tv and get the GPs.I also know some people over in Berlin who watch Polish tv.Maybe people down in Bavaria can pick up a foreign channel that shows speedway? That really covers the main speedway areas in Germany anyway. The middle of the country, away from the borders isn't really big on speedway.Tbh i don't watch much.Eurosport is enough and i will try and tune in tomorrow to see how Smoli + Kevin go

I have noticed in today`s star that German Pay tv station sport 1+ have let their GP contract expire and are showing no real interest in renewing it-so the year that finally Germany has Martin Smolinski competing at the pinnacle of the sport, German fans won`t be able to watch it on TV.

I thought the SGP was shown in a 100 countries, and yet not in a country where speedway is actually raced...?

Might be some hope for us in Germany. After his win in NZ Smolinski wants to sit down and discuss things with Paul Bellamy. He has arranged a meeting before the next GP.Seems BSI want to open new talks with Sport 1.But Smolinski say's "there are more channels than Sport !" and has a plan.......Looks like Sport ! have little money or air time on saturdays after buying up the rights to a few football leagues.

Speedway in Germany is about as popular as a certain chap who was around in the forties :D

You mean Gustix!!!!

There was a time in the late 1950s early 1960s when I used to negotiate meetings for British riders to ride in Germany. These included Barry Briggs, Danny Dunton, Wal Morton, Bill Bridgett, Phil Bishop, Tommy Sweetman, Ray Harris and several more. But it became too time consuming so I stopped doing it around 1962.

Hope you knew if they were injured or not before booking them for meetings :rofl:

I didn't book riders for meetings. The tracks concerned booked them. My role was to find riders who might be interested in going to Germany and then advise them of the German promoters interest. After that the riders made all the arrangements in regard to their fitness and travel arrangements. :icon_smile_clown:

Thanks for the clarification :drink: Got any more stories about Germany that might be of some interest? :icon_smile_clown: Maybe from the last few years if possible

'll say this for you: you have a great fascination for everything I seem to write about. I could regard it as flattering but as somebody said in a PM to me about how you seem to trail me "...that guy's obsession is worrying."

By the way, I have never had "any more stories about Germany" because speedway there, for what it is, has never particularly interested me.

The evidence would suggest otherwise.I post an on topic post about speedway in a country that "never particularly interested"you and not long after you are on the thread posting your usual nonsense.Nice work Gustix :t:

Does this mean anything to you?

Miley Cyrus - "Twist And Turn" .

The basic point is - you, for some reason, just do not like me. Just how or when I have offended you I have no idea. I still claim that your attitude towards me is obsessional and you may need to consider why that is.

What the problem may be is that you have a deep-rooted objection to an alternative poit of view? Debate is an exchange of views not continually mounting attacks and criticism on other BSF members.

Honestly, you just make pointless contributions........ok so you are retired and have time on your hands but you must be able to make decent comments on some threads surely? I put a post on here that was on the topic and i thought might interest people.Obviously as the topic is of no interest to you,you just came here because you saw i had posted something and well.......

Why not start a thread on the years gone by section on all your tales from the old days.Sure it would interest a lot of people, but posting stuff from decades ago on any old topic is going to get you flak from those that want to read about the topic and will get missed by those that might be interested in your memories

When a "pointless contribution" - as you phrase it is made, surely the answer is to just ignore it? If that is done, then no further debate will ensue. For your interest, a comment was actually made on Twitter in regard to how people react to my Posts on here - and it was favourable to me and claimed that I was the victim of "unfair bullying by some BSF members".
