Crazy robin
So 'Skidder1 seeing as you describe last night's attendance as a "Very poor crowd," how many do you think were at the meeting? 500? 1000? 1500? Wouldn't worry Bryn as there's nothing in the Lakeside report anyway so lord knows where he got that from!!
stevebrum
I`d like to think Lakeside can hold it pretty close with Bech scoring well. 48-42

Gavan
And Poole fans wonder why they are called blue tints. Lakeside also had mechanical gremlins and fallers. Lakeside riders were also testing engines Adam Ellis under normal circumstances would have taken more rides but the management wanted to give everyone their rides. Lakeside had 3 riders on their first ever visit to the track. Why dont Poole fans look at meetings properly? You struggled to beat a side who historically not very good travellers. I would have expected at least a 10-15 point margin of victory
Bagpuss
If anybody thought Lakeside would be a nice comfortable start for Lynn in a couple of weeks time they ought think again going by last night. Bech was excellent for Zielona Gora last Wednesday and several other Hammers have decent pedigree at the NA. Should be a cracker.

Gavan
Don't feed the troll. Dont understand what you mean. I would have expected the team Poole built, which lets face it is in the top 3 sides this season, to have beaten Lakeside far more comforatbly then 6 points
Mick H
I don't suppose anyone remembers the 2013 season but little old Lakeside beat the mighty Poole in three of the four EL meetings and it would probably have been fourout of four (and no Championship for the aforementioned mighty ones) if it wasn't for that postponement.

SteveLyric2
So 'Skidder1 seeing as you describe last night's attendance as a "Very poor crowd," how many do you think were at the meeting? 500? 1000? 1500? Difficult to (gu)estimate but with big gaps in the main stand, loads of room in the glass stand and only a thin line of fans on the bends maybe no more than 1000/1200 - very poor for Poole. For those doubting the Lakeside report: - as it appears on the BSPA website!!!!!! - "It was cold in Dorset on Wednesday evening but the 2014 Vortex Hammers produced a heart warming performance in their opening match of the season against last year's champions Poole. It may have only been a challenge match but in front of a big crowd both sides rode hard from the outset and prior to racing getting underway not many in that crowd would have predicted that the scores would be level at 36-36 with just three heats to go. And whilst a Pirates 5-1 in heat 13 proved to be their undoing, the Vortex Hammers were still in with a chance of snatching what would have been a deserved draw going into the final race but the home side grabbed a 4-2 with Darcy Ward heading home Mikkel Bech to give the win to the Pirates by 48 – 42. The latter was the star of the show for the Vortex Hammers and showed just why they were delighted to have signed him in the winter and the other major plusses were the 7+2 return from four rides from Adam Ellis at reserve and the 7+1 scored by Richard Lawson at No.2 Singling those three out shouldn't detract though from the efforts of the other four on the night with both Davey Watt and Peter Karlsson being hit by engine failures in the second half of the meeting, which cost the Hammers points and will cost them to effect repairs. In addition Ben Morley did all that could have been expected of him The one tough fact to come to terms with is that Lewis Bridger's four point tally really didn't do any justice whatsoever to his wholehearted efforts in all of his rides and amply demonstrated that, under the new heat formula, the No.5 position away from home is going to prove tough for any rider." Wouldn't worry Bryn as there's nothing in the Lakeside report anyway so lord knows where he got that from!! The Lakeside summary doesn't say anything about a large crowd .........http://www.lakesidehammers.co/content/?p=7044 Interestingly the report in the North Korea and Bournemouth Echo mentions Poole's mechanical gremlins but doesn't mention the fact that Lakeside had some mechanical problems of their own, nor does mention that three of the Lakeside team were riding the track for the first time, that Adam Ellis well outscored the Poole reserves or that Mikkel Bech was second highest scorer of the whole match. Still, we don't want the Poole faithful choking in their Muesli. Having said all that, once the league starts for real it is difficult to see anyone else getting within 6 points of the pirates at Wmby Road. Lewis Bridger has tweeted this morning that the new system is going to be a wake up call riding at No5. I guess a lot of teams will have that problem but with Ward Shamek and magic Poole seem to have all their bases covered in that respect. Maybe you should check the Lakeside report on the BSPA website, as repeated above in my reply to Bryn!! You can apologise later!!! TonyE
Only the 'expanded' Lakeside meeting report mentioned 'big crowd' and this was probably done to spare Poole blushes!

You can apologise later!!! Ah, its on there now but obviously wasn't earlier when I posted my link. Bit of a non- point picking on crowd size when you don't really know yourself, and crowd sizes are notoriously difficult to estimate especially on a cold night when a lot are in the bar or out of the way. If it was 1000 -1200 then that would be a bit below average at Lakeside but better than the 770 that turned up last time Lakeside were at Wimp Road. Perhaps the "big" was referring to the waistlines of the South Coast gentry.
Gavan
Wasn't trolling. Poole are a good side and I thought they would win easier thats all. Trouble is as always the reports from certain people are all one way traffic
Pirate Nick
Lakeside are a bit of a funny side at Poole. The have beaten us at home but have also been on the end of some serious hammerings. They're a bit like a bag of revels, you never know what you're going to get.
