Rye House V Panthers (east Of England Cup, 2nd Leg) 29/03/2014 @ 7pm

Recommended Posts

PETERBOROUGH will be the first 2014 visitors to Rye House in Saturday’s East of England Cup clash at Hoddesdon (7pm).
The TC Harrison Panthers were overturned by the Rockets in the League Cup at the Showground on their opening-night of the campaign, but recent displays suggest early-season gremlins are now behind them.
They were impressive 48-42 winners at Elite League Leicester last Saturday, and were heading for a thumping home win over Plymouth on Tuesday before electrical problems at the stadium caused an early halt to proceedings.
Panthers are without two of their regular team members on Saturday as Lewis Blackbird and Joe Jacobs have both been given permission to ride for their top-flight clubs, Eastbourne and Wolverhampton respectively, in Elite League matches.
They will operate the rider-replacement facility for Blackbird, whilst Cradley’s promising teenager Danny Phillips gets a run-out at reserve in place of Jacobs.
Rye House are unchanged from the team on duty at the Showground last week, as they continue to use rider-replacement for New Zealand GP Wild Card Jason Bunyan.

RYE HOUSE: Edward Kennett, Jason Bunyan R/R, Matt Tresarrieu, Jason Garrity, Steve Boxall, Luke Bowen, Simon Lambert.
PETERBOROUGH: Ryan Fisher, Lewis Blackbird R/R, Lasse Bjerre, Ulrich Ostergaard, Ales Dryml, Danny Phillips, Oliver Greenwood.

So just so I'm clear, Blackbird is not riding for Peterborough at Rye House as he is riding in an EL match, the same EL match that Kennett and Lambert are missing to ride for Rye House against Peterborough? What a joke, was going to go but will spend my money down the pub instead.

Although it's only a challenge rules state that Blackbird and Jacobs should be riding for Peterborough, as Kennett and Lambert are correctly for Rye House.

In a nutshell Noodles....yes. Going to be a joke of a season with certain riders missing certain meetings yet someone riding in the same meeting can ride

And it's only March!

Interestingly enough the rules also state that official matches take precedence over challenge matches but that's clearly been ignored by RH.

I haven't seen or read anything to explain why it's happening this way.

Quite right too why as a Rye House supporter should i pay good money to watch riders who are primarily Rye House riders missing riding 70 miles down the road and watch a team using RR and two guests.

EL teams operate a squad PL teams dont. I get fed up wil EL teams who are unable to field a side nicking PL riders. That is a challenge is irrelevant to me. Anyway shock horror a speedway rule has been ignored. Sorry Blackbird isn't riding as he is quite entertaining around Rye

I think you mean guidelines? Rules usually (not in speedway of course) are not open to interpretation depending on which day of the week it is and who's asking!

I'll ask you for the third time, how are EL teams using squads?

I know its a challenge meeting, but Ales and Lasse really need to get going if were going to get anywhere this season, especially Ales, no fight, and his trademark quick starts.... aren't exactly special atm. Even with Jacobs and Lewis we might of reached the early 40's at a push!

Good result, but racing wasn't up to much. Steve Boxall is as steal on that average very impressive. Kennett unbeatable, with good back up from all bar Lambert who failed to impress.

Panthers only scored 4 from Blackbirds RR rides and nothing at all from guest Danny Phillips

Very good turn out on a cold evening with nothing at stake. Well over 1,000,

Still using whole milk in the tea bar. Not impressed

I think you may have got an idea when you ordered your 'tall skinny decaff latte with mocca and caramel shot' and the girl answered 'tea or coffee?' you may have got the idea you poseur ))) lol.

Have to say comfortable for the Rockets and hopefully a sign of at least a good home season to come.

Boxall and Kennet exceptional Bowen and JG showing very promising signs coming back from injury Matt dialled in after his first couple of rides. Lambert still looks uncomfortable. Be stronger still when Bunyan comes back.

Fisher deserved better back up only Ostergard performed to form. Berre and Dryml need to pick their form up. Greenwood continues to look a good prospect and Phillips was nt far off the pace.

Good crowd for a challenge.

Ryes 1st home match since the introduction of the new air fence. did it spoil anyones views of the action?

Yes it did and i believe it is far less safe than the old fence. On the exit to the 2nd and 4th bend there is quite a drop down from the track, i hope no rider goes through or under it.
