Woofy Still Getting Good Media Coverage

Recommended Posts

I would go along with ALL that you say in your Post BW.

I can, however, see how his Ear Loops and Tattoos can put some folk off. I must admit that when he is on the Television I spend as much time looking at his Tattoos as I do listening to him. I certainly would not like my son to look like that. If he went for a Job - would you employ him?

As John says above, given Mr Woffinden's skill set and the jobs he would be looking for employment in, i.e. that of a speedway rider, then yes, I would employ him.

Folk are simply going to have to get used to tattooos and Ear Loops.. they're only going to become more and more present in society.

Tai has amazed everyone including those closest to him but he set out to highlight the sport and his career from day one and has a very high profile team behind him who also do some of the biggest names in sport today.

Well Done to him and a book should never be judged by the cover.

Not the right image for advertising earl Grey tea or bridge club memberships. But for attracting thr younger generation and the extreme sports fans he has the ideal Image imho.

It's 2014 not 1940.[/

Ideal image ? are you serious he looks a mess, would I sponsor him or Greg ? Easy answer

Have you ever actual ly sponsored a gp rider? Are you planning to?

It seems plenty of companies are happy to sponsor tai - might have something to do with him being world champion...

What about that beckham bloke. Loads of tatts. He must be struggling to get any work advertising anything...

Walk down any uk high street and ask who Tai is, and they won't have a clue, let's face it, in the Uk unless you read SS, nobody knows the sport exists, take away the diehards, and the lights have been turned off.

Can only talk for the town where I live, Swindon, most people know about speedway, must be the same in smaller places such as Poole, Eastbourne, Kings Lynn, Workington, Berwick,Mildenhall, etc., probably unknown in the places without speedway teams.

Put it like this, he wouldn't be driving for Red Bull or Mercedes F1 looking like that.

Ah so you are claiming Red Bull wouldn't want to know about anyone with tattoos etc.

Funny that.

He looks a real mess, do people seriously think he is a real role model to kids or a great advert to speedway off a bike?

He doesn't have the right image

In your opinion

I just Googled 'F1 drivers with tattoos' in images. Come back to me once you've had a look

Let's see.

Polite, well mannered, stays out of trouble, dedicated, focused. Set his goals, achieved them, fighting through adversity throughout.

Damn good role model.

we are talking about his appearance and like I said that's a mess in a lot of people's eyes.

Greg,Jason,Nicki P they are World Class role models you want your kids to follow there every step.

In what way are those three 'world class role models' and Tai isn't?

I suspect you won't have an answer, which enforces waihekeaces1's point that you are deciding suitable role models based on 'looks'. Pretty awful parenting.

But he's not an F! driver and possibly only a member of a stunt demonstration team? Most likely never to be seen again - so to speak?

What is wrong with Woffinden's ears?

Nothing wrong with his ears, by the way he is world champion something MJJ will never achieve he might not even be good anough to be a GP regular Woffinden i am not a fan but he is good for the sport media savvy and will appeal to the younger generation. Edited by sidney

What type of employment would he attract out of speedway ? Limited

You're clearly well out of touch with modern society.

What kind of employment do you think he wouldn't be able to attract? Bearing in mind that he isn't even going to be looking for work as a lawyer, or an accountant etc as that isn't his background or skill set.

As I suspected, you haven't been able to provide an answer to the question you were asked.

And tbh, even some if those professions aren't ruled out. I'm financial controller for a decent sized organisation, I've had members of my team with dreads, tribal tattoos on their arms etc. and would re-hire them happilly. Probably my best recruitment decision was hiring a young guy with those earings that tai had - smart, hard working, lots of iniative etc.

On Saturday morning the Radio 5 Live show "Fighting Talk" had a question about who the panellists thought was the most unsung hero in sport, deserving of a higher profile. Tai Woffinden was one of the 4 names put forward.

Never mind how he looks, the young man is getting his name, and the word about our wonderful sport out there.
