dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Gotta be happy with that! For Cam and Rohan to score just 9 between them and we still win by 10 is a great start. A well deserved heat 15 spot for Adam who was the highlight of the night. Superb 6+2 from Gino, excellent from our new No1 and solid from Morten and Ritchie. Cant wait til next week!
Super Blue
Yup, a pretty satisfying start against a team that won at Peterborough! Was disappointed with Rohan this evening and Cameron's slow start is only to be expected after his wrist op. Every one else performed well with our reserve pairing showing that they are going to be one of the strongest in the league! Baldyman
Isn't speedway a strange sport, a few days ago rohan looked unbeatable, but tonight it looked like he couldn't beat anybody and was extremely slow. As for Adam, well what can you say apart from brilliant, fast out of the gate to, and his bikes looked very fast. Great first team meeting from gino, and it looks like the lad can really race. Kennett, boxall and garrity all rode well, but Lambert is going to let them down far to often if they are going to be serious contenders. Shadders
Not what I'd hoped for, but pretty much as I expected. I'd predicted an 8-10 point loss, so spot on in that respect. Result came down to the reserves. Paid 17 against paid 5 in programmed rides. Kennetts bike problems in heat 1 didn't help. Top 3 were good value, but reserves were disappointing, especially Simon Lambert who was frankly awful tonight. On the plus side Jason Garrity looked much better. The stadium has improved The gents toilets on the apex of bends 1 and 2 are much better. Clean and with hot running water and a proper hand drier. I thought the interval after heat 8 was sneaky to allow Risager time to switch engines from one bike to another. Probably won Ipswich the meeting as he came out flying in heat 9 Edited March 28, 2014 by Shadders
Rayleigh
I had a 6 point loss before the meeting although after the start that seemed optimistic so I was not too upset with the final score. Kennett - a very classy performance and hopefully the Berwick experience was a blip Tres - A typical evening of more effort than points, but no real complaints Garrity - delighted and relieved in equal spades to see that he is back in more ways than one Boxall- did OK but I think the balance of this years team is asking too much of him too soon Bowen - got more competitive as the evening progressed Lambert - Oh dear I am sure he is a nice fellow but it was so sad to see the original 3 coconuts, whilst I wish not to be so harsh the team does not have to strength to carry him Not surprised by Worrall or even Ellis but the American was "right on it" and not the passenger I thought he would be. Gavan
Cracking start to the season and for once we are going to be tough to beat at home. Could afford to carry Rohan tonight and Morten had problems but still a comfortable win. Cam looked sharper and can only get better. Gino was fantastic in his first ever meeting. Think we will always have 2 potent reserves wether Cam or Gino drop down. Don't forget this Rye side won at Peterborough carrying Garrity so very happy with the performance and result
Dave Stummings
This isn't Lamberts type of track and most people in speedway will know that. He will score on the larger away tracks in the PL and that's the reason why he's in the team. As we all know Rye have a habit of struggling on the larger tracks. Important that we didn't pick up any injuries and remember Bunyan will be returning in a couple of weeks to!
Rayleigh
I truly don't want to pick on Lambert and wish him well, but the "hes a big track rider" argument wears thin when 50% of his meetings are at Rye House, Kent and Birmingham and three 0s from 5 starts at "big" Peterborough is not enough surely. On the back of last seasons disappointment I really worry for him when the team as I previously mentioned is built in a way that it cannot carry passengers.
westhamboy66
A good win for the Witches but a point was there for the taking and Eddies heat one disaster set the trend for the eight point defecit from heat two to last almost all the meeting. Ironic that Hawkins scored well given we dumped him probably due to continual abuse aimed at him from many on here. Even given Lukes gradual improvement we were shown up at reserve and that was the main difference. Insert Bunyan back in the team and i think then the top five of Rye are better than the Witches top five with Tres, Boxall and Garrity all capable of dramatically improving on their starting averages. I like Simon Lambert but with Ben Morley improving all the time I'm not sure Simon is worth his place simply to bolster the team at half a dozen large away tracks. Was disapointed in what i saw from Tungate and Heeps they are surely both much better than last night. As for the Stadium great to see the continual improvements in the stadium just a shame you have to watch from so far away and through catch fencing and despite improvements the track still doesn't lend itself to top class racing. Ben91
Disappointing, a point was there for the taking and we have missed out. Perhaps Mattress should have scored a little more on a former home track, Simon Lambert should definitely have done better. He's too experienced now to live on the "big track rider" moniker, he should have a clue how to perform adequately at all tracks by now. Bash
Good exciting meeting to start the official fixtures off with some really hard and close racing. If Rye supporters claim they should have nicked a point you have to ask what their team manager was doing not putting the black and white on Garrity in heat 10 when he had the chance. If we ride like this with Rohan & Cam having off nights wait till Cam's fully fit, we should be a force to be reckoned with and have good reserves all year. With Garrity off gate 1 it was a huge blunder. Don't know what he was thinking of
crazysue
Re stadium improvements, I put off going to the loo until I could no longer as I just wasn't looking forward to removing any layers at all in a freezing cold toilet block...imagine my surprise at walking into a lovely and warm toilet when I finally did venture into the block. If I'd had known sooner, I would have spent most of the night in there I was that blooming cold!
Roland
Just another thought............4 English riders in Heat 15, that doesn't happen very often? However, I'm sure somebody out there in 'Statoland' will know better?
CardinalSin
Very encouraging performance from the Witches. If we can win comfortably with Tungate having a rare off night for him and Heeps while better, still recovering from hand surgery, then that bodes well for the future. Vincent Vega
Good to see Adam Ellis doing well. What was the nosh like Shadders did you scoff before you went in to the stadium or did you use one of the food places inside?
Shadders
Shadders did you scoff before you went in to the stadium or did you use one of the food places inside? Fish & chips from the shop in Kesgrave... Fish was greasy and still had the skin on (must be a Suffolk thing). Peas weren't mushy, so I chucked em. Disappointing
Shadders
it was still a classy ride by Worrall to get himself in the right place to pull off en excellent pass. He should've used that line in heat
