oldtimer
I read there have been complaints about the lack of noise at Australian GP. Bernie Ecclestone confirmed promoters were unhappy over the lack of noise from the new turbo GP cars. The Australian GP Corp' said "We have to entertain the public, when you take the excitement away you have trouble selling tickets. You have to create a demand and part of that demand is people liking the noise of the race cars." BSPA take note.

It's a lower decibel model from the current ones but is a straight through type without the restricting plate that the current ones have. So it'll be likely that the various national authorities will adopt it.

Too much noise and a Track could be closed down these days so you HAVE to reduce the noise. For me, the open exhausts were the best - they certainly made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. :approve: :approve: Sadly - you just can't allow that these days. Bl**dy Health and Safety/Noise Abatement crap. Oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh for a good smell of Castrol 'R'.

iris123
Just read that even sports clubs are having trouble with noise. One in Hamburg has restrictions on how often it can be used despite a €300,000 6 metre high sound barrier built around it!!!!The boss was saying how absurd it all was when it is trying to attract kids off the street and involve them in sport, yet the kids can't play.......then again we had a case of complaint about a new nursery built in a residential area!!!! Where do they expect nurseries to be built? In the middle of an industrial estate?

Ray Stadia
I watched the GP on Sunday and it didn't stop me enjoying the event. Today a radio station, played the noise of a 2014 engine noise against a 2012 race, for me the 2014 sounded better, less revs and more exhaust burble! Jonny the spud
To the poster who said that the reduced noise on the F1 spoiled their enjoyment ... Unless you were actually at the event just turn your tv up. To the poster who said that the reduced noise on the F1 spoiled their enjoyment ... Chewbacca
F1 cars have always been a bit effete in the noise stakes. Go and listen to a top fuel dragster for proper noise.

speedibee
That's a shame because now there's absolutely nothing worth watching , without the noise it will easily be mistaken for your local Carnival procession

My local racetrack Mallory Park has just re-opened after the Nimbys got their way . the nimby's have been awarded compensation because the Local council did not protect them by limiting the numbers of days the racetrack could make a noise every one of the nimby's who have been awarded compensation , moved in to the village within the last ten years and two of them bought land and built houses there themselves , so now there is restriction on the amount of days use for the Circuit , this includes fishing on the lakes in the middle , What noise does fishing Make ?. and the council have back tracked on the number of agreed days and left the new company struggling to keep going , Local councils and Nimby's ..... come the glorious day comrades .

Yes, Putin probably likes noisy motor sports! Actually, nimby is the wrong word for these people, as they put themselves in their own back yard, after the venue was already there! The Mildenhall situation is a bit different, as we have been told they were making noise at the stadium at 2 am, but Mallory Park? Terrible thing to say, but perhaps Britain needs another war as many have become far too selfish and far too 'an English man's home is his castle'. woodenspoon
I am led to believe that the defence of "That you knew the Speedway was there, before you built your new house " is no longer a viable defence, for the Stadiums, when the NIMBY's try to shut it down, as there was recently a Court ruling that overrode that. There is now a serious danger that since that ruling the NIMBY's will be reapplying to get their way. Speedway is now in danger of future rulings by the Courts. weatherwatcher
I can see it years from now. F1 cars and speedway bikes with no engines that you have to pedal around the track and the spectators can't clap or shout in case the can be heard from 10 miles away by the banker that brought his house in the country who complained about the cockrels crowing and the farm near him. What a sad old world we live in now. I can remember the days at the old Long Eaton track with so much noise it made your teeth rattle, and yes it was near houses and no one even bothered to complain in those days. Has something gone wrong with peoples hearing or are we just a load of wingers and moaners. I for one don't come into that bunch of idiots. We should all enjoy our sports and encourage people to be involed in them, that way it stops them moaning about kids sitting about on street corners doing nothing but they can't because they all moaned so much that all sports where stopped and all animals where destroyed and all motor vehicles where scapped to cut down on noise levels. You can't talk in public because it will be above the level of noise allowed. Just forget it and let us get on with our lives how we used to do. We should all enjoy our lives and live them to the full. If you don't like the noise then move somewhere else. Let us enoy our speedway and you can all go and bury yourselves in a big hole in the ground for all I care.
