Yeh yeh, we get it.. Old time speedway..you went....yawn.

You dont like things going off topic, so keep this on topic for a change.

Btw, a quick trip to google answered your question instantly - with many threads on this board alone about Estonia for instance. I'll let you find out for yourself tho as you've got time on your hands i'm sure.

A cynic may think you posted this thread just to attract some attention and start some more chaos.

Well now you know. Job done. Feel free to email the mods to lock the thread. Nothing more to see...

This thread probably ran on longer than you thought perhaps? And it also produced some very detailed and informative responses. I now have a new perspective in regard to speedway in these East European countries. I especially found the mention of Bulgaria to be of interest.

Yawnn...your questions were answered quickly initially..the latest responses were on attendances etc.

Anyway, stop trying to inflame things, that's trolling i believe John.

Wasn't there speedway in Romania as well?

I know that pre-war British rider Clem Beckett - early 1930s - is said to have raced in meetings in Romania. The latest update is http://www.motospeed.ro/ - the only snag you may have to use the translate mode.

What answering an unsolicited question about Romania is?

No Doc you are wrong.

People who come on here to deliberately have a go at other Posters are TROLLS in my book.

Gustix isn't - he just has to put up with unpleasant invective from you most of the time.

If you don't like what he Posts - stick him an ignore - and then the rest of us won't have to read all of your unpleasant comments.

I enjoy your Posts most of the time - but this vendetta against Gustix is going too far.

Thank you.

Ian.

Ian i'm quite aware of what he is thanks - i've had plenty enough experience of his trouble-making on this and other forums over the years. And as i've mentioned before, i shouldnt be forced to impair my own view of the forum by having him on block.

I've yet to receive a ban for anything here, yet a certain someone else has more than a few of this in his back catalogue - that speaks volumes in my book.

Your support of him is noble, i'll give you that.., but don't worry i wont be inviting him out for a coffee today as i know that upset you greatly last time - i'm on nights, so much better things like sleeping are on my agenda.

Here's is a youtube link in regard to speedway in Romania that you may find of interest?

Here is another "little known" East European outpost. There is a translation option but it doesn't seem to lock to English. It is from Croatia and looks to be a club website.

A link to a little known East European speedway nation. Click on the main link to make further progress.

You really are different class-you know all about speedway at far flung outposts in New Zealand and the USA-yet Martin Vaculik had escaped you and now you are telling us about Gorican a track which has held GP`s, an under 21 final and a round of the televised European championships last season. I suppose you have never heard of Jurica Pavlic or his father .

Far from it. I added in this Croatian track to add to the record of those that have already been detailed. I just found the Croatian track on a Google search and thought it might be interesting to place in this thread. Obviously I was very wrong and must humbly apologise to you for this misdemeanour.

I remember a thread on the BSF Congratulations to Jurica Pavlic in December 2013 when his girl friend gave birth. In typical BSF style, what started as something congratulatory ended with "the flak flying" between some Posters.

We are looking basically at countries not tracks. The Croation reference which turned out to be a club was a blip - it was not in English so I did not notice the difference.

Here's a now forgotten Speedway Outpost.

NEW CALEDONIA, July 14, July 15, 1972.

Venue: 400 yard track, Noumean.

Speedway riders: Tommy Sweetman, Mike Fullerton,
Stewart Goodall, Wally Auckram, John Roberts, Lance
Gandy - all NZ except Sweetman (England).

TQ Midget drivers: Paul Sutherland, Lindsay McKillop,
Ken Mullins, Dennis Perry, Kerry Morris, Kevin
Parkinson, Roy Ross, Barry Griffiths.

Only known result: TQ Midget Car GP of Noumean on July
15, won by Ken Mullins.

On first day, Sweetman suffered a facial injury when
he hit the safety fence but carried on racing.

It's not like the homepage had any mention of it tho ;-)....hmm.., erm... - perhaps the pictures of the grand prix held there showing such other unknowns as Nicki Pedersen might have given the game away to most folk.

Good to see the name of the Racers lives on in your username by the way..always makes me think back to happy times when i see one of your posts.

Cheers

Tom

Other than quoting the Link, all of which was in Croatian - my translate failed to respond. I looked no further. All I was seeking to do was to CONFIRM there was speedway in Croatia - not find references to the SGP and who had ridden there. I produced the Link - it was left to those who MIGHT be following this debate to decide if they wanted to move on or otherwise.

Now let's await the spin you put on this reply!

There follows an interesting link to motor cycle racing in Romania in the early 1930s, but evidence of speedway/dirt tracks can be traced with references to riders like Fernand Maynier (France) and Leo Killmayer (Austria) in some of them. The top Romanian rider at this time was Nocolae Imoescu-Cristed. Take a look - you won't regret it.

There is also evidence that as far back as 1932, Romania's Bukarest Veldrome staged an international speedway/dirt track meeting featuring riders from Greece and Bulgaria.

I wonder if Stewart Goodall is any relation to John Goodall N.Z. who rode for Sunderland for half a Season in 1971. He had the makings of a really good Rider - but left Sunderland under something of a cloud.
