Guest
Speedway In Christchurch-The Templeton Years New Zealand Speedway historian Allan Batt has recently published his latest book with the release of "Speedway In Christchurch-The Templeton Years". With over 350 photos, including some rare unpublished colour images, among the 152 pages this publication captures the history of the sport in the home town of iconic riders Ronnie Moore, Ivan Mauger and Barry Briggs during the period of 1962 through to 1978 which was a time that Templeton hosted some of the sports greats. 'The Templeton Years' also documents the Test matches featuring British and Swedish teams as well as the stadium filling 'World Champion Speedway Series" shows while also giving the readers an inside as to how a return to action by Geoff Mardon and Ronnie Moore 'saved' the track, while also giving a glimpse at the 'rise and rise' of local boys like Larry Ross, Graham Stapleton, Frank Shuter, Allan Brown and Roger Wright who all became house hold names in the UK. With 'mixed shows' being the name of the game in the Antipodes Midgets, Sidecars, TQ's and Super Modifieds all get plenty of coverage as well. Speedway In Christchurch-The Templeton Years is available only from the publisher "Speedway Classics", PO Box 19-687, Woolston, Christchurch 8241, New Zealand. The cost is $65 NZ inc post to the UK or £32 pounds British cheques are accepted, however if you wish to purchase a copy, and pay by paypal email speedwayclassics@hotmail.com
