Kings Lynn V Zielona Gora 19/03/14

Recommended Posts

Can see Kings Lynn easily making the play offs and maybe going on to win it if they can stay injury free.

I totally agree with the above comment.

I'm hopefully looking forward to some real ding-dong meetings this season between Kings Lynn Stars and the Poole Pirates - provided both teams avoid injuries. :t:

A decent meeting last night. Lynn will do just fine this year. They have one of, if not, the best side in the league. If Zielona Gora had gone to race Eastbourne or Lakeside they may have been caught out by the track early doors but Lynn is a circuit that would have held no fear for them. Adamczewski looked a decent rider and Protasiewicz impressed for Zielona Gora too.

Initial thoughts on the new format were that we'll be getting more clashes of the big boys but feel a little sorry for the away number four who doesn't have his first ride until heat 5 and is against the home 1&5, both of whom will already have been out! Ouch.

I didn't particularly care who won the meeting overall last night, apart from being a little worried about what the Polish fans might do if they lost!!!! As I have always thought, the Poles exuberance is on the whole alcohol fuelled, pints of it (slight exaggeration maybe) ended up on the ground lol But wow don't they love their club, fair dues! And great to see particularly Mikkel Bech and Pepe encouraging their support :-D

So it was all about the racing and of course there were a few gooduns :-) Roll on March, off to buy a drum and practice finger wiggling and my KINGS LYNN STARS chant!

Said exactly the same last night. Think that could do with being looked at.

Loved the meeting and the atmosphere last night and really hope it becomes a regular meeting in our calendar.

Also it has made me even more determined to watch some league meetings in Poland. Apart from the incident you mentioned above with Bjerre, didn't hear or see any other trouble last night. Thought the Poles really injected some colour and passion into the evening, normal league meetings will seem dull in comparison.

As for the Stars team, think they all showed promise of better things to come. Bjerre very good (especially early on). Rory had a tough night but was always involved. Great win by Kerr in heat 7 and Rose was normally in the mix. We know we won't face a team as good as that again this season.

Now really looking forward to the Lakeside meeting on April 9th and the return of Mikkel B. Jensen. He was the one rider who really impressed me last night. Fast and aggressive. If he keeps that up, he's in for a big season.

Management did miss a trick given we had World 1, 2 and 3 there, they deserved a little more recognition than they got, Matt didn't even announce Tai as World Champ oops!

Re the make up of heat 5, how about putting away 4 in heat 4 and away 2 in 5?

You are of course correct Henry- I should have posted more clearly that it was the reserve berth I was thinking about rather than the overall side.

1st match under the new Elite league heat format-any thoughts from anyone who was there.

I found the program strange in that the riders in each heat were listed down in alternate team order Gora KL Gora KLie 1st Heat was listed down as

Bech

Porsing

Hampel

Iversen

Not sure if this was a one off ( maybe like a Polish format ) or a sign of the way forward with the new format.

Did notice that Bjerre Number 5 had 2 programs rides with Woffy and 2 with Iversen all heat leaders, so team positioning will very important under the new format.

A great match - result was irrelevant really but obviously would've preferred a win lol. Thought we might have had a chance with them missing Jonsson, but when you have no 8's like Adamczevski ending up as top scorer there was obviously little chance of that! Thought majority of the Stars looked good tho Rory I thought would be better after looking sharp on Sunday, and Tai was a disappointment apart from one good ride.

Loved the atmosphere the Polish fans created (even though of course it was alcohol fuelled) but they must think UK fans are a quiet bunch! Didn't realise their colours were green and yellow either - can't be bad

Bit mystified why the Polish champs were facing Lynn though tbh, wouldn't it have made more sense to be against the UK champs? Anyway, not complaining and I'd be happy to start each season off at Lynn with a fixture like this :t:

Should imagine they wanted to ride on a similar track to those in Poland-fast,full gas all the way round-hence Peterborough being the orginal choice. They also presumably didn`t want a blue groove after heat 1 :approve:

Polish format programme

Great meeting big crowd result unimportant what was pleasing to me was Kerr and Rose mixing it with higher standard riders which is good when they will face lesser riders in our EL also Porsing deserves a mention he was far better than points scored . I feel at this very early stage if we can stay clear of injuries we are in for a very good season .

I hope Shovvy and his Poole followers are not thinking of trying to wind us up on Lynn Threads. Word to the wise. We have never ever won the League in the top tier of British speedway, but we are still here. Guess what ? If we don't win it this year, we will still be here. It's all about degrees.

Poole expectations are set at a higher level than ours. Now if we were to win omit over Poole. Oh dear.

So was it the Polish race format or the new EL format?? Seems to be a difference of opinion on here?!

As the meeting was promoted/arranged' by the Poles I assume the Polish race format was used?!

It`s only you that`s confused-new Elite league format was used but riders were in gate order in programme-as in Poland rather than RBWY, as this http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/wydarzenie/26379
