stevebrum
If the Poles gated like this at Poole the result would be no different, and their bottom four would have yours for breakfast. Only a Poole fan would really believe they could have done better. Way to strong for anything the EL teams can offer.
Daniel Smith
The gulf between Polish Speedway and KIngs Lynn is very evident. If Poole had taken them on I am sure we would have put up a better fight. Ward, Janowski and Shamek could certainly hold their own. Only Bjerre doing what he should so far tonight. shovlar's going fishing forget the result Bjerre & Iversen will take some stopping as will our reserves Kerr & Rose. Not far off the pace at all. Just a shame we now have to wait so long to get the official fixtures under way

racers and royals
If you take the two reserve races out of the equation then there were just four points between the teams. It's relevant because the Polish structure doesn't require the same level of rider in the reserve berths. Lynn seem to have done quite well. Comments from Dorset need to be treated with the contempt they deserve. Actually Zielona Gora were stronger than they normally are because Jablonski isn`t allowed to be at reserve in Polish league. Signs are good enough for me Your 15 year old secret weapon might just find the going too tough this year, though I do wish him well. Should be a reserve in the PL though, and not in the top 5 of an el team. He'll soon discover that rival quality second strings have firm elbows at the first bend. One of the reasons that Kings Lynn won't make the final in 2014.
Haza
No doubt the ridiculous cost has put plenty off. same price as a league meeting £16 so not sure what your on about ??
kelvinht
£25 for a seat was a bit steep, probably why they were mostly empty. But £16 was a bl00dy good nights entertainment. Nice warm up for the season....against EL standard teams I think we'll fare well. Lewis and Lewis were both there or there-abouts. If only Buster could get that sort of crowd every week. Good that the ref kept the racing ticking along at a nice rate, why can't it be like that every week :-(

One of the reasons that Kings Lynn won't make the final in 2014. Because he doesn't know that already from meetings in Germany against Schlein, Smolinski, Wolbert etc etc all EL second string Calibre and has beat them there already, also riding Denmark this year too, do some research before chirping... although I don't expect much away from home, at home he will be fine! Thought Bjerre looked good tonight, and can't fault Porsing, Kerr and Rose, all in the mix, and our reserves will clear up the reserve races this season. Good signs, good racing and some mental Poles to add to a good atmosphere!
HenryW
If you take the two reserve races out of the equation then there were just four points between the teams. It's relevant because the Polish structure doesn't require the same level of rider in the reserve berths. Lynn seem to have done quite well. The Polish League rules require home grown under 21 riders at reserve, so there isn't a massive difference between their rules and the Elite league ones. It's just that the Poles have done a better job developing their young riders. Tonight ZG didn't actually stick to the normal Polish rules, using an overage rider at reserve, but let's not forget that Kings Lynn added the World Champion to their top 5, so I'm not sure that your point about Kings Lynn doing quite well holds up. Actually Zielona Gora were stronger than they normally are because Jablonski isn`t allowed to be at reserve in Polish league.I think it's a stretch to say that Zielona Gora were stronger than they "normally are". Adam Strzelec would normally race at reserve alongside Kamil Adamczewski, which would make the reserve pairing slightly weaker. However, Andreas Jonsson would be in the top 5 instead of Strzelec with Loktaev potentially in there instead of Jensen as well. Their total team average was about 4 points down on what a "normal" Zielona Gora team can be expected to be this season. You are of course correct Henry- I should have posted more clearly that it was the reserve berth I was thinking about rather than the overall side. 1st match under the new Elite league heat format-any thoughts from anyone who was there. mdmc82
Can see Kings Lynn easily making the play offs and maybe going on to win it if they can stay injury free.
Bagpuss
I think we could have quite a bit of Dorset propaganda on our threads this year Really enjoyed last night, decent racing with a great atmosphere and good company. The Polish fans were quality apart from the tw@t who threw a pint at Bjerre during heat 15. ZG were always going to be a handful on a track which suits them down to the ground but I didn't expect them to be so fast from the gate and over four laps. Bech and Adamczewski were the stand outs, both mightily impressive and the latter ensured AJ wasn't really missed. Apart from Bjerre who was flying the GP lads all lacked gating and track pace, particularly Woffy. Our three youngsters were largely outclassed and probably on inferior equipment in comparison but all got stuck in and will be fine against EL riders. A little disappointed by the World U21 champ but he was comfortably covered by the others and it was all pretty straightforward for ZG in the end, although it may have been close but for the lost points through mistakes, EF's and falls. No complaints at the result though. Roll on April 9th when the serious stuff begins.
g13webb
Some of the comments on here really make me laugh. I don't know if it's bore out of jealousy or just that some people concentrating on the negatives. I would like to say what a wonderful exciting meeting enjoyed by the big crowd that was there. The noise, the atmosphere and laughter was magic. The drinks flowed, the drums banged, the whole evening was an example of how speedway should be all the time. The fact we lost the match was of little relevance. The competition was great and we can take a lot of heart from what we saw. Some of the overtaking was sublime and warranted the entrance money alone. The overall score was somewhat exaggerated by all the hic-cups that lost Lynn points, But the sharpness from the gate and the quality of reserve riders was the main difference. I have no doubt, come the Elite start we will do very well. This was a big plus for Speedway in general. What a pity it wasn't shown on the tele when more people could have witnessed a brilliant night. To all those concerned with putting this meeting on , I say well Done...... PS. It's probably worth noting, Using the new league format, such was the competition last night, the top 3 riders in the world could only manage one win each.... That's food for thought for this coming season.............. Edited March 20, 2014 by GRW123
wealdstone
Poles greatly superior to Stars on the night but still early days. Polish Speedway is on a different level to ours anyway. Stars should give a good account of themselves in Elite League. My gripes are (1) £25 for seating with no reduction for concessions( even the people taking the money at the gate were embarrassed.) (2) Delay of start as some people were late/ could not get in. Those that did turn up on time were forced to hang about in cold and wind. g13webb
How did bech look? Really looking forward to seeing him over lakeside this year Bech last night was impressive, He looked fast, competitive and at home on the fast flowing track. but that will be of little significance to the Lakeside setup.....
