Gavan
priceless poole fans missing the point yet again. ok ears open. nobody is doubting wards ability what we are all sayin is stop brushing what he did under the carpet as if it never happened. it wasn't a small indiscretion like some are making out and no it wasn't what youngsters do. he is disliked because of these sort of things and until he can prove he has grown up he will continue to be disliked. I for one do not dislike ward as he is a breath of fresh air in our ailing sport. but please stop glossing over what he has done. Think its quite clear that several on here won't like Ward if he gave all his money to charity and become a monk. The worlds best riders all suffer from the haters. Crump, Trick, Mauger, Briggs, Pedersen, Olsen, Penhall etc. NO rider at the top of their sport is universally liked. Even Chris Holder has his detractors. oh and for your information and the fact that yet again you miss the point the riders you mention are disliked for reasons on the track i.e Mauger rolling at starts, Pedersen hard riding. Not for what they do off the track
The White Knight
So having a couple of spliffs and riding a bike in parkland is terrible? That's his only crime I can recall he has committed. Jesus I have done far worse things in my years! I'm calling the Police.
Steve Shovlar
Did they happen last year, really?? Lets not let the facts get in the way of a rant!! Even the staunchest of Poole fans know what went on previously in 2011 and 2012 (some fans also know of others involved - and that isn't excusing his own alleged actions)! The point that some are trying to make, who have actually met him, chatted with him, sponsored him and seen him race live every week is that last season/year, particularly the latter half after his injury, he showed a much more mature attitude in both his racing and his personal life, in addition to taking on the captaincy at Poole. His determination to improve his skills, focus and organisation under the tuition of the likes of Hancock and Crump demonstrates his much improved approach. Agree. End of the day the only thing he has done wrong is ride a little pit bike on a bit. Of parkland behind his house and had a spliff. Hardly serious stuff and he got fined but no conviction. The rest he was proved innocent in a court of law. Simple as that. No ifs, buts or maybe's. Innocent.

Blazeaway
I'm really not sure why we should all "forget the past" etc. If he rode for anyone other than Poole Shovlar and the rest would be sticking the knife in at any given opportunity. Ward has a pretty horrible track record and comes across as an arrogant little sh!te. I have no Speedway reasons to dislike him as I don't support any of the clubs currently in competition. So for me I would like anyone other than Ward to win the WC this year. And Sidney please don't bother commenting on this with your usual badly spelled aggressive garbage Agree. Steve Shovlar
I'm calling the Police. Never got caught and no one harmed. At Wards age I was out on the razzle every night having competitions with mates about who could pull the ugliest, who could bed the most women in a month and regularly getting into punch ups in clubs. A party animal. It's what lads do, isn't it? No camera phones then to capture the many great nights thank god. Looking back now with a wry smile on my face some of the antics were completely cringeworthy and bang out of order. But it's what a lot of lads do and my guess is Darcy did similar only has now curtailed it at an early age to concentrate on his career. Off track riders have lives to live and should be free to live them as they want but it seems the moral police on here have to have their moan about him if he slightly stepped out of line. Enjoy your life and career Darcy, and don't let the haters ever wear you down! Sorry for going off Topic - BUT - how the hell do you get FINED if you are not CONVICTED - I just don't get that? Or - is it me? Different laws in Aus. You can pay a fine and it will not be marked on your record.

I have no real view on this either way but just to pick up on this point - no-one is proved innocent in court, as 'not guilty' simply means that the case for guilty has not been sufficiently proven. It's an important distinction.

BWitcher
The ONLY reason this keeps being brought up over and over is because Sidney and a few Poole fans keep getting up in arms because some people don't like Ward. That's their opinion. He's done what he has done, no amount of posts from his fan club are going to change that. All it does is stirs up further resentment from those who dislike him. Instead his supporters should focus on the fact that every single poster on this thread, even those who have stated they dislike him has said he is a world class talent on a bike. I do agree, as I think Shovlar and Skidder pointed out, after his crash last season Ward seemed a hell of a lot more mature and giving him the responsibility of being captain will have helped him in that process.. as would working closely with Hancock no doubt. That is the first step he has taken. It is up to him now whether he commits to dedicated training programmes like a number of his rivals are and will be doing or if he chooses to simply rely on his natural talent. It may be enough as has been said, but IF it isn't, he may have to review the situation. He is still very young and has many many years ahead of him in the sport so who knows, if after a few years he doesn't reach the pinnacle, he may dedicate himself further to do that. Time will tell. fullbore
The rest he was proved innocent in a court of law. Simple as that. No ifs, buts or maybe's. Innocent. Well if you'd be happy if it was your daughter on the receiving end of his attentions... And less of the he was found not guilty, remember the appalling percentasge of convictions in such reported cases. Niamh

Gavan
Dear oh dear Poole fans and you wonder why you get reputations! Those of you defending wards past need your heads testing. Look at the daft post from shovlar who likens what ward did to him being drunk and pulling birds! Yep what ward did is exactly the same what a usual pathetic response. Nobody is saying ward didn't grow up a bit last year as he did a bit but to defend his past is a joke

If ward channelled his natural ability properly then he should be champion within the next 3 years. At the moment his application can be questioned. I would have no problem with Ward being world champion
