Ward Can He Win The Title This Year.?

Recommended Posts

However wrong Wards actions were is he really a vile piece of scum?

I would use them terms for rapist and child abusers, not a young lad smoking pot and getting drunk. Yes he was wrong but your words are a tad overboard.

but no need to throw your toys out the pram over it

It wasn't the smoking pot and getting drunk I was referring to.

OK so the verdict was that it was consensual and therefore a not guilty verdict but were his actions that night anything other than vile.

And incidentally it is well documented on the internet so there is no need to go into more detail on here

If he phrased it correctly he may have a point.

Just being 'fit' may not prove to be enough for Darcy.

If Darcy were to dedicate himself to the same level as Tai, it is very likely he would emerge on top. However, by not doing so, he is greatly reducing his chances. His natural talent may still be enough for him, but he will be making things a lot harder for himself.

How do you know he hasn't been working flat out this winter? You don't know what he has been up to with his prep. Certainly been working with Crump on his gating.

Going to be the best GP series in quite a few years.

I'm not saying he is or he isn't. Simply that if he isn't he is making things a whole lot harder for himself.

Agreed it is going to be a fantastic series, let's just hope that politics don't ruin it.

Personally think that the Champ will come from the following group of riders.

Tai, if he can maintain his form. As has been said, historically it's always been hard to defend the title.

NKI: consistant at the back end of the season. If he can improve on his early season form he will be in the mix.

Emil: based on last year, if he stays clear of injury. IMO he's in the same class that people are putting Ward in ie needs to calm down a bit and realise he doesn't need to win every race.

Darcy: see Emil. Hopefully he will have learnt a lot from his 1st year.

Chris Holder: again if he can regain his form. Always on quick bikes and I would never rule him out.

Really wouldn't like to say which one will come out on top but as a gambling man NKI and Chris @7/1 are good value.

the odds are shocking mate.... Bookies giving no value as usual

i would be stunned if the winer doesnt come from Tai, Hampel , Iversen, Ward , Emil or Holder.

think that Pedersen and Hancock wont be good enough.

Can see Zagar moving on to a possible top 3 place. Think he came second 3 times last year so maybe at least a breakthrough gp win is due.

There has been this saying flying around some riders on Twitter and it's very accurate and I think Darcy has taken note but it doesn't look like he's listened over the winter.

"Hard Work Beats Natural Talent When Natural Talent Doesn't Do The Hard Work"

This proved very prominent for 2 rider's last season who said they never trained and practiced so hard in their lives. Tai Woffinden & Niels Kristian Iversen finishing top 3 was no mistake.

Darcy refuses to train in a gym or have a personal trainer. Riding MotoX and practicing his starts with Jason Crump is bo!!ox preparation. He's young and with the attitude he has, he could get by for the next 1-2 years. If he's not World Champion by then he never will be unless he changes his approach.

:D

In that field i think it is poor value to be honest, Ward,Tai, NKI and Emil all have equal chances with Holder and Hampel having a squeak to.?

So if there are only six riders u think csn win, and u rate nki as having as good a chance as any, then surely 10/1 is good value? What odds would u consider good value?

U could bet on tai holder hampel and nki and if any of them won you'd be tripling your money.

Good point eaces1,i have done NKI Eway again the same as last year and Ward to win it not large stakes.

at 7/1 and 11/4 Sid??.... If I was having a bet I'd back Nicki P or Hancock ew.... The rest are far too short.

Yes "Arson i hate doing Eway as a rule, but i fancy Iversen to have a great series again.Ward we all know what he is capable of dont you think it is better to have an opinion on individual rnds Arson? because really the prices over the long haul are very tight.

just think the odds are terrible to win it overall... I'd rather back my fancies for each GP.... The prices will be better.... 11/4 for Ward is terrible value really.

It's a reasonable bet that he probably hasn't been doing too much physical training considering the way he laughed off the suggestion that he might follow Tai's lead last year :)

I just hope that Emil races this year and Bomber doesn't disgrace himself yet again ;)

Seems as though there are two discussions going on here.

Firstly as an individual Darcy Ward is a vile piece of scum. He is lower than a snakes belly button and in reality should be doing a 5 stretch right now

Secondly as a speedway rider he is probably the most naturally talented around at the moment. Natural talent alone rarely equates to world titles though, it has to bd applied and i think wards immaturity will stand in his way

To answer your question sidney, can he win? Yes for sure. Will he win? With his current attitude, highly unlikely

Obviously, if it were down to natural talent alone Mark "Buzz" Burrows wouuld have at least seven World titles under his belt.

What are people's opinions ? can Ward win the title this year? or is it a learning year for him.I think he can win it i have backed him also i have backed Iversen my two against the field also i believe Holder could be in the mix at a big price.

At this pre-start time for the GP series I think there are quite a few people who share your comment and hopes in regard to Darcy Ward being the 2014 overall GP winner.

Have we gone off topic here. The title is can he win, not how many people hope he wins. You really should follow your own advice

"gustix" i believe that most of us want to see the best win and he is among a few and the bloke can put bums on seats whether you are a fan or not.The era he is in,he has some tough opposition at least six who have a realistic chance of being WC.Tai is the key for me can he rediscover the same form as last year? he has every chance. But often as thing,s change on the mechanical technical side just one little advantage here and there could swing it towards any of those six also luck (injury) pays a huge part also.
