MFE
I cannot understand the whingers attitude to this meeting. Riders many of which had not ridden since October, giving their time free of charge, getting their bikes set-up right, what the hell do supporters expect? At the end of the day this was a benefit meeting, and because of the warm, sunny weather it was obviously hugely successful, and this very worthy cause benefitted, excellent. Leicester stadium coped admirably with the huge crowd, the facilities especially the catering was good, the humour and banter in the crowd was excellent, and the racing was not bad either for the first meeting of the season. I wonder what the moaners do during their week to make them feel so damn pompous and critical, well done Paul Ackroyd, well done Leicester Speedway, and well done the riders for entertaining so admirably.
stevebrum
The racing at this event has been pretty ordinary in the past at both Rye & Scunny, its never going to be a classic, cut and thrust kind of meeting being the first one of the season. Raising lots of money is the main objective so its great to see so many people turning out. Spot on. None of the Ben Funds have been a pass fest because tracks early season rarely allow that and have been to the vast majority of them. It still wont stop the consistent whingers having a go at the Leicester track/promotion.
Trees
It's funny how years ago a fan would expect good, grippy tracks at the start and end of the season because of the temperatures and water content!
Taylorj
The persistent moans and groans are because you have forgotten to mention the other point... new set up...check.. now elite league.. check.. but still the joke track... check. Mind, still the joke track even though we have been promised that alterations would be made to improve it on more than one occasion. Some people have spent thousands of pounds of their hard earned up front based on those promises being made into reality. That's just some people, some people have other issues mind... but there you go, what a bunch of moaners. Anyways, at least you wont get me moaning about the leicester track after this week as it's currently he only meeting i plan on attending at BP until i hear that racing has improved. I'm with you I'm afraid. We travelled from Cumbria, 9hours round journey. Arrived to be told the car park was full , ended up parking miles away , walked in and the car park was half empty . The queues were backed up to the pits , finally got in to be told they had sold out programmes and finished off queuing yet again for a drink with only 2 people serving on a van another 25mins missed 1st race , surely to god with the amount of people attending there should have been more facilities !! Onto the racing (or lack of it) 3 passes in 18 heats of speedway, gaters paradise if you got out that was it basically . Thank god I won't be needing to make that journey again now they are in the EL. Was great to see speedway again, nice weather but certainly wasn't worth the travel and expense
jim the whipper
I find it odd that people make excuses for poor entertainment by stating it was for charity maybe next year those who were expecting to go to a speedway meeting and be entertained or see any racing would be better off to just put £17 in an envelope and post it the BSPA to avoid wasting their time and having their expectations dashed , realistically the naysayers should have been aware that charity events are more about the charity element than anything else , Come on naysayers get with the program . would you go to" Live Aid " and expect the artists to arrive with their instruments tuned properly and make an effort to play to the best of their ability , or the organisers to make every effort to ensure the line-ups and facilitiies were the best they could offer Of course not , so why would you expect it from speedway , Why do they bother with facilities Like Wembley for these charity music events and spend a fortune on gigantic sound systems so that everyone can hear ? they could just stack some pallets up for a stage out on Romney marshes and get lookalikes to walk around on them ,nobody would expect anything else and to complain would be churlish after all it's a charity event you should not expect anything in return for your money

London Witch
Seriously enjoyed my day out, glorious weather and great company in a good atmosphere. Had a 10 minute walk in the sunshine after parking up on the industrial estate, a long queue to get in, indicating the great turn-out, hence loads of pennies made for the injured riders and the atmosphere inside was good. The racing wasn't great but I've seen so much worse. Overall, well worth travelling for. Good work, bring on the season.
SCB
So yes our track may not be the best for racing ( i have seen some good races there however) because if you dont like it DONT BOTHER COMING BECAUSE YOU WONT BE MISSED as there are enough of us who will follow The Lions thru thick and thin People used to say that at Newport. In fact the promoter told me and my family that and our visits more of less stopped (much to the benefit of Coventry Speedway in my case). Where is Newport Speedway now? 10-15 years ago it was a new stadium very similar to Leciester Speedway. It's not a flattened bit of land with a load of storage containers on it. You may not realise it but you need those moaners because without them, speedway doesn't pay and if it doesn't pay, it stops.

I'm glad you enjoyed your day out , taking into account the unexpected burst of good weather adding to the feel good factor and the winter break with no speedway I'm not surprised that you had an enjoyable day TBH , here's a question for you , would you still have thought it was such a great day if you had been regularly attending Leicester speedway over the last few seasons and become quite accustomed to gate and go speedway ,.and went to this hoping against hope that better standard riders would bring better entertainment . some of the worlds most entertaining riders were there yesterday and they could not put on a decent show would that encourage anyone to buy a season ticket if that's a sample of whats on offer . Leicester joined the elite league and the supporters were hoping for a better standard of racing week in and week out with more local derbies as well . No doubt about it Elite league speedway is of a better standard and if any Leicester fans want to see the Lions in top class races there's now an opportunity to see Just that . at Coventry , Wolverhampton or Birmingham .

Al Stewart
But end of the day it was about raising money and whether people like it or not riders testing machinery and fitness etc Plus if you add these together at any track you will never get great racing Sun + heat + day meeting = slick and dusty The BFB at Birmingham a couple of years ago was a really superb meeting, so it can happen. SCB
Yes LeicesrerLion39 why don't you try Coventry. The racing there is pure class If thats what you read form my post I suggest you give up reading the BSF. Proof if every it was needed you cannot have a discussion with you. And to think people have a go at the moaners, at least they're consistent and logical.
wandersome
Most lions fans are looking forward to the EL this season especially the local derbies You must mean most lions fans that still bother going shirl, as most lions fans gave up long ago witnessed by crowd figures last year
lionstigersnotbearsohmy
Great cause. Great crowd. Great set up. Great stadium staff. Great effort by the riders.Great shame the track has still not been altered to give us more than 2 or 3 good races in 18 heats. Let's hope the standard of racing improves when the season starts proper. Although watching a racer like Bomber Harris getting out of shape on the bends gives me no reason for optimism.
