pugwash
Antonio Lindback. 10 years ago I'd have backed him to be world champion one day. these days i wouldn't back him to make the start line. Saying that, love the guy, would love to see him back at wimborne rd.
andrewrunagall
My first thought when I saw this thread was Mark Courtney in his final few years. Not for what he did in the race, but for what he did in the minute or two before the tapes went up. I remember that, pretty much as soon as the previous heat was over, he'd be straight out there, I'm surprised he had enough fuel for the race after how long he always waited. Anyway, my choice for most frustrating rider is Tomasz Gollob, he's a great rider, in fact, one of my all-time favourites, but it annoyed me when he would panic and swap his bikes about five times before a heat. Then there was the last few seasons in the SGP's where he developed a habit of just giving up when he was in last.
Kryten
Charlie Venegas. Would score double figures round Kirky Lane and 1 or 2 away.
The White Knight
Ludvig Lingren for me. World beater in one Heat who can become a rank amateur in the next.
Wackie
I think Efkins and Gjedde would be high on most Reading fans lists!
The Doctor...
I think Efkins and Gjedde would be high on most Reading fans lists! I remember that bleep bleep Gjedde pulling wheelies at the back in a cup final, maybe Exeter. Not the best way to endear himself to the fans imo - i'm sure it was his first or second season with us - in fact Wackie, you were probably down there with us that day. If he gets some consistency he might even keep the Number One Racejacket. Up until now his achievement has been patchy to say the least. Particularly Away from Home. We shall just have to wait and see.

RPNY
Andrew Silver. Could of, well should of made it. Was better then Havvy when they were youngsters but sadly fell by the wayside...
Bellers101
Andrew Silver. Could of, well should of made it. Was better then Havvy when they were youngsters but sadly fell by the wayside... Better than Havvy? How many British and World under 21 champs and Grand Slams did Silver win compared to Havvy? Silver was also older than Havvy but chose to stay NL longer rather than step up into BL in 87 like Havvy. I agree Silver could and should have done better but was was too much of a show pony. I remember Ivan Mauger saying he wouldnt be a top class rider if he didnt tone down his riding style. Sadly he never did.
teddy2706
Andrew Silver was a delight to watch and still, as far as I am aware, holds the track record at Stoke. Certainly frustrated plenty of us when he visited 'our' tracks and was at his best!

SCB
I remember Justin Elkins scoring an 18 point maximum and winning the Bronze Helmet at Wimbledon then the next week 4 Engine Failures. The guy had some real talent. I once saw him score a 3 point maximum for Newport as a guest. He broke down going into the 3rd bend of lap 3, Chris Mills rode into him and Mills was excluded with Justin awarded the win and he had to pull out he meeting injured. I remember being totally bemused at how the referee had awarded the race. He top scored for Wimbledon once and teletext printed his name as Efkins

You have to take into account that I was about 12 at the time and was very use to the local Black Country folk and spelling at the time! When Pepi appeared in the UK I was very, very old and more worldly wise! Edited February 14, 2014 by berniev123
