Five More Years Of El Speedway On Sky

Recommended Posts

It's excellent news and I got to be honest I never thought it would happen.

Glad it has though but speedway has to make use of this opportunity now and showcase the sport.

No more Belle Vue farces and teams who come to a fixture with less hope than Bob of getting past 30.

Show competetive matches on tracks prepared for racing as far as the weather permits of course.

Give the viewer a reason to watch Monday night speedway.

Hopefully they will at last get a sponsor for the league who can help with that and also the young kids get a chance to show what they are worth and they take that chance.

It's probably the sports last chance to really shine. Hope it takes it :)

And also glad to see Kel and Nig will be commentating :)

I have a lot of time for Charlie Webster. She's the only female presenter who actually had a go herself at Iwade and now she's doing that 250 mile run for charity.

My cousin has done 20 marathons for charity & rode a speedway bike so can he have a job on Sky or does it matter if you're actually any good at the job because Charlie is the worst of the lot.

Give me Suzy Perry or Sophie Blake over Charlie any day .

Now that's a dream I could get used to every night!!!! :D

Have a heart man it's clearly not a nightmare the three ladies could get used to lol ;)

With Chris Louis continuing in the pits with his 'big Sky screen', lets hope his Ipswich Team manager role doesn't throw up too many clashes with Sky meetings?!

Oh hang on, maybe......................that might not be such a bad thing!! :D:D

(This is especially for the Chris Louis Sky fan club!!)

Im sure we can find a stand in TM for the odd meeting - Sky meetings must come first even if you are a British World Champ!

Why do we need sky? I mean all they do is plough money into the sport and by screening it will hopefully attract more people to the sport we all love. Hell they could even decide to put a nice individual at the start of the season to showcase our sport even more. But no still the speedway fraternity would rather see a rider have a farewell meeting 18 months after he retired and who also had already lined his pockets from a previous testimonial. Sky sports you are the devil as far as most fans are concerned. What you should do is pull your coverage and financial backing at the request of this farewell meeting. You couldn't make this up!

Per Sky website, on 29 April there is an Elite League match between Peterborough and Newcastle. Not very inspiring that they do not know what leagues these teams are in.

Always good to see PL on SKY, so long as matches are carefully picked.

Way to many one sided meetings.

Its not Sky Sports fault - 'cos the BSPA said so!!!

Good on Sky for agreeing a new deal - 25 or so meetings will probably mean them 'ploughing' around £300k per annum into speedway! That's about £10k per televised meeting plus the Go_Speed fee.

Again Skids, you're well short of the mark from what I've heard. You're slipping mate :)

I think id have more faith in Skidders information that your to be honest.

I've now heard it might be as little as £6k per meeting for some meetings?!

Clubs do not just receive monies for meetings staged though - so the 'per annum' fee you quoted is a loooong way short.

Normally bang on the money - which is why I said 'you're slipping'. I prefer to stick to what I actually know than bother with who you would have more faith in to be honest.
