I know over the last couple of years we haven't had very much to cheer about and last year including myself missed quite a few meetings.

So is there anyone who`s kept away be returning to Sheffield to what looks like a very good team ?

Many fans of most teams can say the same . At Glasgow last year we had the worst season in living memory , but the die hards still turned out . 6 or so weeks from now we'll all be bursting with anticipation . ..............................well until early May at least :P

Might even be earlier depending on who we get to replace Joey Ringwood ;p

Well i was not as committed as i once was but that was a combination of team not very good, track poor and lack of ambition but the new promotion really are turning that around and even my dad who used to go week in week out with me will be making more appearances than last few years.

When not working i will be there cheering on the tigers and hopefully bring my son to his first meetings also !

I am not a 'Tigers' Supporter.

But I would advise you to remember the old saying - 'USE IT - OR LOSE IT'!!

If your Speedway dies due to lack of YOUR Support - you can be a hell of a long time without it.

Sunderland Supporter (40 Years closed this year).

I hope you don't mind me saying this.

Agreed and i wish i could have gone more last few years but it just started to feel like a chore going to Sheffield, hopefully this year the buzz pre season runs into season and we can have a team to be proud of, challenging at top again.

speedway tracks die when they dont have enough support

the ones that dont go dont care, so use it ot lose it doesnt matter to them, they have nothing to lose, they dont go anyway

PS might have a bit more enthusiasm this season, it has been too easy to find an excuse not to go for the last two years

i have said in previous posts on other threads that the last 2 seasons have been very hard and attending meetings were done so out of habit rather than enjoyment.

I still attended every meeting for the last two season except for the British Semi Final last season, and my enthusiasm was definitely waning I don't think I could have justified going to every meeting this coming season without a decent side.

But now cannot wait for March and really looking forward to seeing how the new team progresses, and apart from Scunny, Peterborough and Workington I would say that its any team in the league could make the other three play off places.

Lets bring it on.

Looking fwd to visit Sheffield again, of course supporting Scunny :)

Owlerton has great facilities but the track has been pretty poor the last couple of seasons with what appeared to be very few genuine overtakes after the 2nd bend, lets hope this is better too :)

Also noticed the away support for Sheffield dwindle recently so with a better team and more prospect of away wins/upsets then this will hopefully improve too.

Sheffield went stale over the last 3 or 4 years, the track deteriorated to the point where racing became processional, the presentation offered nothing new, the Hare and Hounds closed, meetings just plodded along - no one had much enthusiasm and to top it all the car park doubled in price! This combined with a 3 hour drive each way culminated in 2013 being the first season where Sheffield have ridden at Owlerton since 1972 when it was a truly Dude free zone - I just couldn't be bothered, it seems I wasn't the only one!

2014 will probably see me give it another try, the team is not the same old same old we became used to although I don't think they'll be contenders for silverware, hopefully something new will be tried like it was for the first few seasons when Neil & Tim took over.

I still went last year but it was out of habit rather than anything else. Sometimes I didn't know who we were riding against until I arrived but I still love the atmosphere and standing with my friends on the first turn.

I will miss the visits of Leicester this season but will still be there whenever I can.

Not a Sheffield supporter, but I have seen some inspiring racing there over the years.

It was particularly exciting a few seasons ago when Ashley and Simon were reserves.

The car parking has doubled in price, but only gone up a pound!

It is a good stadium, good facilities and I will be very sad not to see Neil Machin greeting people at the gate.

What utterly baffles me is why a city the size of Sheffield has so few regular supporters.

I will be visiting there again this season.

I'll be on the fourth bend as always, hoping that the team steers clear of A & E.

The Tigers' team performance in 2013 has been roundly criticised, but what seems to have been overlooked is the injury curse which followed the team around wherever it went. It must be remembered that - with injuries, sackings and retirements - we finished the season with only two riders who started it. Even the riders signed as replacements finished up in casualty; we were doomed from the outset and there was little the promoters could have done once the season was underway to make things any better.

We deserve a bit of luck in 2014 and, if it arrives, I reckon we'll be in the top 3.
