whats really sad about all the Darcy Ward stuff is that KK went out and won what from comments appears to have been a decent Grand Prix (I never saw it) and doesnt get a mention. I had to go searching for the result

Well done KK

Whereas, on the SGP website the only mention of the former was "17 Darcy Ward DQ" with no explanation anywhere.

Which in my opinion is correct as they have not as yet gone through the entire investigation stage

Some fantastic racing, some very brave passes as well, full blasts around the "boards" (or should it be airbags these days) and overtakes on the white line.

Sure there were some races that were over after turns 1 & 2, got very strung out, but the exciting ones were well worth watching the whole meeting.

I recall one race when all four were virtually abreast on the back straight on their first lap - that was a wow for me.

After his first race head first dive for the fence I think KK did really well to come out fighting and win the meeting, and he didnt have it all his own way.

Watching Chris Harris closer, his only 3 points were a heat win. His riding style is very appealing and I can imagine when he was at the top of his game he was good to watch. However, I think his bikes were letting him down in Daugvapils. Shame really.

I read KK is praising his engine tuner, Peter Johns. I know there has always been good engine tuners, but what is it they do to an engine that is different to what other "average" engine builders do, after all there is "only 4 valves, a piston, inlet and exhaust tract" to play with, is'nt there? Obviously more, but what?

BUT BSI are not responsible for every aspect of a Grand Prix. They are the commercial rights holders but the FIM still have a role to play ... they licence the track, issue safety certificates, appoint officials, and much more. FIM officials actually make the decisions about the tracks and it was they who determined that on this occasion it was potentially dangerous and therefore unfit. It is a joint operation but I would agree that there are some grey areas which need closer examination.

BSI run the series, and the local promoters are essentially sub-contractors who they choose to host the GPs. BSI should responsible for ensuring the local promoters meet the necessary standards for hosting GPs, and following-up with inspections as necessary to ensure those standards are being met.

Whilst the local promoters may have been a bit unlucky with the weather, this was an untried and untested stadium (not to mention one that was originally dilapidated), so there should been far more stringent checks than for a well established and regular speedway venue. That this apparently hasn't occurred is careless at the very least, and once again we have another fiasco with fans being left out of pocket.

I think the most dreadful thing about this though, is how BSI abrogate responsibility when things go wrong. If it was genuinely down to the weather rather than a poor track, with Daugavpils being the back-up, then provision should have been made for some sort of transport for the people who did have tickets, but once again the travelling fans are way down the consideration.

and from what has been said on here by some fans who did travel..... they wont be going there again.

I understand Riga is a very nice place to be, and when it was announced many months ago I did think about the wife and I going. Plans didnt go any further, and so glad now it didnt. I can cope with going to Cardiff, but any future plans of travelling abroad for a gp have gone out of the window now. Keep my money in my pocket and watch on TV, not the same as live but a "safer" option.

Not saying anything about it makes it look as though they're doing random disqualifications as well as random breath tests. Just as long as people think everything is wonderful on Planet BSI.

You seem to think that anyone who thinks anything different from you is a BSI sympathiser - need to loose a chip or two there.

Look on it like a case going to court - you wouldnt expect the judge to tell you before the evidence is heard what the verdict will be.

Any regulatory body should go through the correct procedures and whether it fits other peoples agenda's or not, that includes not washing the dirty linen in public before its been taken to the laundry

Don`t think he quite meant on the day of the meeting ;)

Also about 3 weeks ago he posted that BSI were flying out to do the final checks.

Which is even worse :D

I have to admit to having a huge soft spot for KK. He's another one that when high on confidence can be unbeatable. There were some great moves on Sunday, rides bouncing off the fence :o.. A great meeting and a great track. Is the reason they chose to move to Riga because it's the capital and offers the visitor more, as there have been lots of comments about what a great place it is?

Very probable.

but Prague is a great place to go to but most say the track is not so good ie rubbish

Cardiff is a great place to go to and the track is acceptable but atmosphere fantastic (judging that on the 2 years I have been 2013 and 2014)

Been to Prague 3 times (plus every Cardiff) and both meetings get in the way of a good piss up :D Prague is a great city though and worth visiting - as you're there you may as well pop to the speedway for what I see to remember was about £15.

Had a couple days in Prague in 1976 and yes it is a lovely city and well worth a visit.

Did Katowice in 1976 when peter Collins won the world championship, followed by the World Long Track the Sunday after in Marianski Lazne, in Czech when Ivan Mauger won. Thats how we had a couple days in Prague - on the way to marianski Lazne.
