Chris Harris Testimonial ?

Recommended Posts

Well, if your 'car full' of friends are that fickle that they need the so called top riders before they are interested then tough. :P It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and moan about the line up but I bet it's been really hard for Chris to sort out. In fact he said at the last meeting that when he retires he definitely doesn't want to be on the promoting side. Stop being so bloody miserable. I dread to think what you're going to be like when you're old.

Priceless, you tell him Gem :D:party:

it's a straight shootout between schlein and lindgren then. although bombers starts look as good as i've seen them , so maybe a three way battle. we're only coming up to say thankyou for 2007 and to see the kids well worth £20 imo.

i understand where you are coming from, but these days the public demands value for money. Be that in a restaurant, high street store or a speedway track. As was proven with the Ben fund, being a good cause is not enough. Big names pull in the crowds, that is why premiership football is so popular and speedway is on it's knees.

Well, we'll see on Sunday what the crowd is like and whether fans stay away because there aren't enough big names. I think £20 for 33 races is value for money and so called 'top riders' aren't important to me although I know they might be for other people. I watched a cracking meeting at The Showground, Peterborough, last Sunday with 14 Premier League riders and not one who you would class as a big name but the racing was first class. (With apologies to any rider present who does think he is a big name.)

Edited to add the quote as the page has turned over.

i was also at the showground on Sunday, for what was a very good meeting. Coventry are a well supported club, and I fully expect that there will be a decent crowd there for the testimonial. I will be paying £21 inc prog for 15 races at lakeside tomorrow, which I don't think is very good value for money!

Just pay the admission fee and print your own programme - that will save you a bit of money. It also keeps the brain active attempting to find out the correct riding order.

Bomber has been a great servant to British speedway but this meeting is disappointing and I am another one sadly giving it a miss.

Never understand why people have to tell people they are not going. I'm sure there will be a huge crowd judging by talk social media sites and at the stadium.

i have got every programme from every meeting I have attended since I was a nipper in 1968. Old habits are hard to break!

That's brilliant cityrebel but I've realised now I've reached a certain age I've got to be sensible and not collect any more momentos - or rubbish as my two children call my Speedway stuff. I've got 34 family photo albums going back to the late 1800's, 7 Speedway scrapbooks, 100's of Speedway DVD's, amongst other things that will either need a home or be dumped so I've got to draw the line somewhere and not collect anything else, which includes programmes. I don't really want to spend £2.50 on a programme that I'm going to throw away when I get home so I print my own, but promoters don't seem to like this idea so make it as difficult as possible by giving the riders names in alphabetical order. Personally I think they should be grateful that fans like me are willing to travel and pay for admission rather than being deliberately awkward.

Ooops! Is that a rant? :P

........mdmc82........Never understand why people have to tell people they are not going.

Me neither, but I'm sure in this case Robert72 is saving his money for the Good Friday visit when he's coming round to the 4th bend to meet Lucy as he had problems finding a big black/white Collie last time. Or of course I'd be quite happy to find him if he lets me know where he'll be.
