Speedway Champions League ?

Recommended Posts

I'd like to see some sort of European competition introduced to speedway. Unfortunately because of the way speedway is run with riders competing for teams in up to four or five countries it looks like being very difficult to implement.

The only thing that's changed is the money involved and the promoters that it attracts.

Its not only the fact that a rider rides for different teams in several different countries that is a "problem".

The different countries leagues have different rules for team building, averages, guest riders, transfer windows replacing injured riders...

THE weather forecast for Zielona Gora tomorrow (Sunday) is not that good and as an FIM event the race-off date is Monday ... when Poole are at Lakeside in a TV fixture.

Being suggested here (with a pinch of salt - maybe) that the Poole team in the Champions League bears little resemblance to their EL team so they could fulfil both fixtures!

Weren't the Russian teams criticised for containing riders who didn't ride for them back in these days?

But it would be great to think one day a speedway version of the Champions league could be as widespread as the football version, including teams from several countries.

No replacements announced yet on Sportowefakty

But doubtless bags of zlotys are being dangled. ;)

Yes. The Pooleski Pirateskis" who tracked Emil Sajfutdinov, Leon Madsen and Piotor Pawlicki.

Wouldn't happen nowadays since we are now a well regulated sport.

All the best. Alan.

Not just Poole. KK hasn't ridden for Esbjerg this year

Sorry, but it was a complete shambles. Riders often had never ridden for those teams before or since.

Of course, it couldn't happen today ...

Still-at 1pm UK. listing Greg as riding. I know speedway riders are bonkers at riding through the pain barrier but i'll be surprised if he rides after that horror crash. . We'll see. Join you later. Alan

The picture from the hospital this morning didn't look very 'minor'!! Left hand in a splint with dislocated knuckles the main injury.

I know his clutch control is red hot usually but....................???!!

His team said on twitter that the middle finger was dislocated and that the pointing finger was broken.

I still think this is very minor injuries, compared to broken wrists/arms/legs/collarbones...

Agreed but sounds very similar to Tai's injury to his clutch hand which kept him ou of the GP.
