TesarRacing
Martin Smolinski: The German started the year as reserve at Birmingham - but he had a wonderful 2013 - finishing the campaign as their No 1. Coupled with the fact he booked his place in the 2014 Grand Prix series, it was certainly a year to remember.
INCOGNITO
Shows how much Sky know about the sport. The real star was Tai Woffinden and everyone knows that Yes he had a good season but he was at reserve at the start which boosted his average up and only got to the GP'S on a one off meeting and missed the cut but takes the place of Iversen. Bomber qualified for the GP's too and nearly finished the season at reserve !! Edited January 16, 2014 by INCOGNITO
Poole Quay 7
Should have been Darcy Ward who captained the Poole Pirates to another league title in England and shown on Sky Sports Elite League Speedway And just for all you Darcy and Poole fans (NOT!) here is the man himself..Enjoy I'm sure Edited January 16, 2014 by Poole Quay 7

Gavan
How can it be Ward? Surely el rider of the year is the rider who had exceeded expectations in his team not just the number one captain of the title winners. Josh G was in my eyes the rider at Poole that achieved the most and he perhaps could have been elite league rider of the year. No disagreement with Smolinski helped his side achieve title potential. Tai for obvious reasons could have won it. Why are some Poole fans all about Darcy? Think his average dropped and he was injured as well . It's not anti Poole before the troll get ls on here because I think Josh had every chance to win it.

Top of the official BSPA final end of season averages was Holder on 9.25 - so pretty obvious really!!
stevebrum
Shows how much Sky know about the sport. The real star was Tai Woffinden and everyone knows that No doubt Poole fans will think it was Ward that deserved it. The rider who finished with a lower EL average and lower in the GP rankings. Don`t know which is the worse insult! Smolinski had a great year but is not the rider of 2013.
castrolargh
Surprise package of 2013 definitely smoli, no disrespect, but El star throughout the whole season it has to be woffy followed closely by PUK
SCB
And just how many opponent did he beat when it mattered in the play-offs?
Gavan
Smolinski put the most points on his starting average went from reserve to number. 1 and also BY RIGHT qualified for the gp's so although he wasnt very good in the play offs I can't argue that he was the rider of the season. As I said wouldnt have had a problem with Josh G winning it as his reserve performances in the play offs got Poole the league but there is no way it can be Ward. Would love to know the pooleites criteria if they think Ward was elite rider of the season! Only in Dorset hey Stevebrum lol

Brummie Kev
Excellent Choice, Smoli went from reserve to number 1 in a season, not many do that, fantastic achievement.
BWitcher
Not on Sky though!!!!!! Top of the official BSPA final end of season averages was Holder on 9.25 - so pretty obvious really!! Yet again you throw in this incorrect statistic. And just how many opponent did he beat when it mattered in the play-offs? Couldn't risk beating too many, folk are willing to put down a protest fee in the play-offs.
BluPanther
Kildemand for me, increased his average by well over a point, and the best visiting rider at the Showground last year by a country mile. Mr entertainment....

Mr entertainment.... Wouldnt argue with that. He's actually had 3 good years in a row now. Seems to be hugely under rated.
T.N.T.
The clue is in the title!!!!!!!! If its just on league performances why in the opening post does it say about him reaching the GP;s Last year I was fully amazed at how much Tai developed on and off the track and he reaped the rewards by lifting the World Title despite many thinking he would finish 15th just 12 months ago !! However on EL performances, I haveto say that Neils K Iversen was amazing and possibly deserves the award more than anyone and while I appreciate Smolinski had a big year, Tai and Niels were head and shoulders above anyone else ...... including Darcy !!
