hagonshocker
Cook isn't good enough at the level you need to get onto the podium at world cup level, Tai, Harris and Nicholls if they could get back to form they are capable of and Danny King are all better than Cook but we have never had any team since 2004 which is capable of winning. To me it wasn't the fact that Cook got beaten at Kings Lynn that was the problem but more the way he got beaten. Disagree %100 with that ...totally going backwards what is the point of that?? Next you will be calling for England to tempt Ramprakash back out of retirement in cricket or Johnny Wilkinson for the red rose?.....Woffenden Harris Cook Worrall ...there seems to be a real Poole bias against Cook on here for some reason...or is that generally against young Brits?! No bias just don't rate him, you have a point though Worrall should be in the team if Nicholls doesn't want to, agree with that but definately have King in the team and Ramps couldn't do any worse than the current team!! A ORLOV
Denmark have had a week of team building and racing at Kings Lynn for the last couple of years, this seems to have helped them with their recent performances in the World Cup, I wonder if Rosco has any ideas like this, either a couple of days with all the prospective riders, or a couple of meetings with team gb v someone. The bspa would have to come up with some finance and riders would have to be available.
A ORLOV
Something that needs to start happening again is the squad practice session at Lynn, for me Cook hadn't done enough laps at the NA going into last years event and a couple of days of solid testing and practice would have held him in much better stead. Plus there are the benefits to team spirit and togetherness which come from getting together. Would only use King Barker in any test matches arranged but wouldnt touch Nicholls or Kennett whatsoever....in fact i willgo back on Barker. What i would concentrate on though is bringing the u-21 set up closer to the 'senior' dept especially if we can get out here and compete against the top nations from Europe in regular 3 match minimum series home and away and gain the Worrals and Cooks more experience on the bigger faster more demanding Polish and Swedish tracks ..you know get em to grow a bigger pair and realise what engine and frame prep you really need. A similar system needs to be in place r.e for the Lamberts Charlie Wrights Garrity's etc but on a like for like basis....and i dont mean against the pawlick or even Przedepelskis but less so experienced Poles. We also need to dismiss any pre-concieved ideas or predictions for this years and even next years world cup and just work on bridging that gap between obviously talented youngsters and the Woffy's and dare i say Harris' of the world and hopefully weed out the middle journeyman like Bridger Barker EK King yadder yadder.....the future can bright and not take 10 years like one or two on here have alluded to but start looking decent in a couple or 3....Lambert Kerr Howarth Wright Ellis Garrity these kids have got something but need lots and lots of backing and experience...could be good believe me Sorry meant to add Cook ad Worrall are who we need to concentrate on and develop this season for starters Totally agree, have just posted about squad meeting, the same as the Danes do, and team gb meetings before the World Cup on another thread. Woz01
Cook has improved year on year and I find it staggering that people still don't rate him. He would be in my GB side with Woffinden, Harris and King.
SCB
As others have said, no matter who the manager it won't improve our chances. unfortunately Woffinden and to a lesser extent Harris, we are simply no match for Poland, Australia, or Sweden, and won't be for the next decade at least. Sure, Rosco will inject some passion and desire, but that won't be enough. So you dont think we can beat the USA or Latvia? Between them they have Greg Hancock and on a good day Ryan Fisher. We have about half a dozen riders who are better than Fisher.
Steve Shovlar
The reason Cook isn't rated by some Poole fans is probably down to his performances when he comes to Poole. Very poor. And the reason his average is as high as it is is because he has ridden many more home meetings than away in 2013. Was looking forward to seeing him ride against us last year but he was useless. Scored 4 points the last time he rode with one win in ten races over the season at Wimborne Road Not the form of an international.

It is surprising though as I would expect ex motocrossers to go well round Poole. Edited January 16, 2014 by Hodgy

Chris
You can't blame Middlo for dropping Cook last year. His performance at Lynn was dreadful. He started to late and will be another Barker, King, Howe etc. He'll do very well to get above the sort of level he is now.
