Steve0
Should have stuck with him though. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I'm not saying he was right or wrong but who would be a sports manager? It's a thankless task a large part of the time - especially when a team isn't winning. We can't expect too much with the current state of British speedway - we just don't have enough quality world class riders - I would even be bold to say that we only have one on his form of last year which landed him the world champion crown - he needs to sustain that this year and beyond. Gavan
Cooke had his chance. Nowhere near good enough unless GB ride at Belle Vue.name me 4 better riders then? Course Cook is good enough what a ridiculous statement then again he doesn't ride for you. Had a bad meeting at Lynn but he is still learning

Bagpuss
Barker was never going to do any better than Cook in Prague and won't ever improve now. Cook was deprived of some invaluable experience by being dropped.....at the time I could kind of see why the change was made but in hindsight it was a mistake. BritPete
If we do not use new riders, then we will still be using Harris and Nicholls, when they are 50! Imagine that!
Steve Shovlar
Woffinden, Harris, Nicholls and King. Cooke is a second string who is dialled into about three tracks. Too old already and has reached his level

Hodgy
Woffinden, Harris, Nicholls and King. Cooke is a second string who is dialled into about three tracks. Too old already and has reached his level Cooke won the NL riders championship in his first season in the Sport, 2009. Won the PL riders in 2012, Topped the PL averages with 10:42 last season, scoring numerous maximums at more than 3 tracks. Finished 3rd in the EL riders. His EL average 7:42 was on a par or better than 3 of your GB team. Why would you think he can only ride 3 tracks and has reached his level? Appears to get better every season to me. I expect him to step up another level this season.
Gavan
Woffinden, Harris, Nicholls and King.Cooke is a second string who is dialled into about three tracks. Too old already and has reached his levelsorry while I stop laughing! Cook can only ride 3 tracks! Yes he is a bit older but still learning. Danny King is a good rider but better than Cook I'm not sure. Cook could achieve a higher average than Nicholls this year. He is the level of a third heat leader in the elite league. Averaged more than Doyle in the premier oh and averaged more than Janowski so that makes Magic a second string does it! Cooke won the NL riders championship in his first season in the Sport, 2009. Won the PL riders in 2012, Topped the PL averages with 10:42 last season, scoring numerous maximums at more than 3 tracks. Finished 3rd in the EL riders. Bagpuss
I don't think Cook has reached his level yet but he probably won't until he broadens his horizons beyond the two tight circuits he rides on. King deserves a go on big tracks which will suit him but Nicholls would be a backward step and I expect Cook to be outscoring him at BV anyway. SteveLyric2
Nicholls has retired from representing his country!! Cooke blotted his copy book by testing engines at Kings Lynn, which was one of the reasons he was dropped - but he will/should be part of the longer term plan as will Worrall, Lambert - and Harris in the short term. However, for any 7-man test matches, we still need a few more!!?
TesarRacing
Really chuffed that Rosco has got the Team GB job and hope he is successful at it. Bringing it back to the Swindon topic, I see he states that it wont get in the way of his job with the Robins and he hopes it will help to win more titles for Swindon. Sincerely hope that is the case and good luck to him!
foreverblue
name me 4 better riders then? Course Cook is good enough what a ridiculous statement then again he doesn't ride for you. Had a bad meeting at Lynn but he is still learning Cook isn't good enough at the level you need to get onto the podium at world cup level, Tai, Harris and Nicholls if they could get back to form they are capable of and Danny King are all better than Cook but we have never had any team since 2004 which is capable of winning. To me it wasn't the fact that Cook got beaten at Kings Lynn that was the problem but more the way he got beaten.
Bagpuss
Something that needs to start happening again is the squad practice session at Lynn, for me Cook hadn't done enough laps at the NA going into last years event and a couple of days of solid testing and practice would have held him in much better stead. Plus there are the benefits to team spirit and togetherness which come from getting together.

hagonshocker
Would only use King Barker in any test matches arranged but wouldnt touch Nicholls or Kennett whatsoever....in fact i willgo back on Barker. What i would concentrate on though is bringing the u-21 set up closer to the 'senior' dept especially if we can get out here and compete against the top nations from Europe in regular 3 match minimum series home and away and gain the Worrals and Cooks more experience on the bigger faster more demanding Polish and Swedish tracks ..you know get em to grow a bigger pair and realise what engine and frame prep you really need. A similar system needs to be in place r.e for the Lamberts Charlie Wrights Garrity's etc but on a like for like basis....and i dont mean against the pawlick or even Przedepelskis but less so experienced Poles. We also need to dismiss any pre-concieved ideas or predictions for this years and even next years world cup and just work on bridging that gap between obviously talented youngsters and the Woffy's and dare i say Harris' of the world and hopefully weed out the middle journeyman like Bridger Barker EK King yadder yadder.....the future can bright and not take 10 years like one or two on here have alluded to but start looking decent in a couple or 3....Lambert Kerr Howarth Wright Ellis Garrity these kids have got something but need lots and lots of backing and experience...could be good believe me Sorry meant to add Cook ad Worrall are who we need to concentrate on and develop this season for starters
stevebrum
Woffinden and Harris the only riders that should be secured a place. Nicholls has retired from International duty and is way past his best at that level before he retired. King SHOULD be the next automatic choice but needs to be racing abroad to be a definite pick. It is time to push the likes of Worrall and Cook who are the next riders who appear ready for that level. Barker and Bridger do give their all but appear to be out their depth at that level. Hopefully the reserve nominations in the EL will give us one or two potential picks for the future - with the likes of Lambert and Ellis (in particular) showing great promise.
