racers and royals
I agree that last year the Torun pairs meeting was not really exciting to watch on TV, and I struggle to get excited about having three of that kind this year. Surely the Polish Ekstraliga will NOT change their fixtures just to please the organisers of a pairs event in an other country. Substitute riders will have to be used for the pairs event in case of fixtures clashes. After all, this pairs events are no officiall FIM or FIM EUrope event. They are just a series of lucrative and well promoted open meetings. Think it`s more to do with one sport thinking they run the Polish extraleague as well !! Still think Czestochowa,N sport will not want to run against the live Eurosport coverage on an off night when they can easily delay for 24 hours. Mark
Perhaps they need to look at the scoring system. A win is currently worth less than combined 2nd and 3rd. Pairs are happy to sit 2nd and 3rd so there is no desire to win. What would forum members suggest to make it more exciting.
A ORLOV
There must be a reason for the 4,3,2 points marky but I cannot think of one as what you say is correct. Maybe they need to change the scoring to 4,3,2,1 or 4,2,1 which would encourage more of a fight for the first and second place, rather than just sitting back and taking a second and third. Anzum
I think the scoring system is to encourage the idea of being a pair. E.g it is no good disappearing off into the distance if your team mate is last, but slow down and try to help him. That was what Nichools said on the commentary anyway. I think the biggest problem last year and looks like the same this year is who do you want to win? No british team or british riders so no one to support, it always makes it more interesting if you want someone to win or at least someone to lose.
The Pedaler
The PL Pairs meeting at Somerset is a fantastic event. Long may the idea of team riding pairs of speedway professionals prosper. I'm looking forward to the SBP. Just a shame that the event dates are too close to other trips already booked. Maybe a lesson for OneSport for next year...announce your calendar of events SOONER please!

Ghostwalker
The Swedish team will be Andreas Jonsson, Antonio Lindbäck with Peter Ljung as a reserve. That means that we have the following lineup: Russia: Emil Sayfutdinov, Grigorij Laguta, Artem Laguta (reserve).Germany: Martin Smolinski, Kewin Wölbert, Max Dilger (reserve)Latvia: Kjastas Puodzuks, Andrejs.Lebedevs (reserve tba)Poland: Tomasz Gollob, Adrian Miedziński, Patryk Dudek (reserve)Denmark: Nicki Pedersen, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Michael Jepsen Jensen (reserve)Australia: Chris Holder, Darcy Ward. (reserve tba) http://www.speedwaynyheter.se/vastervik/lagen-i-best-pairs-2014/ Imo Australia, Russia, and Denmark are the favourites to fight for Gold. Sweden and Latvia as Darkhorses and Germany will probably not be able to match the other teams. http://www.speedwaynyheter.se/vastervik/lagen-i-best-pairs-2014/

Ghostwalker
@F-S-P, call it what want, gold, winner, best pair or whatever same thing different name and you know what I mean. At today's press conference pricing was revealed for the final round at Eskilstuna and it was pretty reasonable. Here is a map that I made (ok I'm not Picasso so sue me ) over the arena: http://www.mediafire.com/view/d3a713xu6kjtl1w/smedbana-1.png Anyway for roofed Grand stand A at start/finish straight the price is 300SEK for adults (19 yo. or older), 250 for kids/teens (8-18yo.) for roofed seated stand B at back straight price is 250SEK for adults, 200SEK for kids/teens. For the first bend stand, stand at the grass hill at finish bend or standing along the boards, price is 200SEK for adults and 150SEK for kids/teens. Children aged 0-7 enter for free. There is no info available at the moment regarding where to buy tickets online. Current exchange rate is approximative 10.7SEK for £1. If anyone is coming to the final round and needs any kind of info let me know and I'll see if I can help you. Steve Shovlar
If Emil is fit, then the FIM can ban him. Oh how I'd laugh if they did. The FIM could certainly ban him if they see his withdraw for the GP series as a snub to them over a competition they are at war with. SteveLyric2
The FIM could certainly ban him if they see his withdraw for the GP series as a snub to them over a competition they are at war with. ...hence the carefully worded press release that his withdrawal is in part 'injury-related', which will later be further explained as meaning 'still too injured to do a full SGP series, but recovered enough to do a few SEC and Best Pairs meetings'!!! So as ever, money and sponsorship does the talking - who will be the next??
Pirate Nick
The FIM could certainly ban him if they see his withdraw for the GP series as a snub to them over a competition they are at war with. Surely that would depend on wether he's signed a contract and if he has wether or not the FIM thinks it will stand up in court?
f-s-p
@F-S-P, call it what want, gold, winner, best pair or whatever same thing different name and you know what I mean. Good thing we are on the same page... Now tell these idiots what the meeting is all about: http://www.svt.se/nyheter/regionalt/tvarsnytt/lindback-uttagen-till-lag-vm, http://hd.se/sport/2014/03/05/sveriges-vm-trio-i-speedway-ar/?from=rss EDIT: Only just read the other one... It says: "Storbritannien valde att tacka nej då man blev irriterade över att finalen i Eskilstuna körs en fredagskväll när England har ligaomgång." It says Team GB withdrew cos the Eskilstuna round is ridden on a friday when there's league racing in the UK. Yes, thats exactly how it went.
