SteveEvans
I thought David Beckham was number 23 ! Just found out he was after he was number 7 but before he was number 32 ! Shows the idiocy of it all ! Then you are obviously saying the old system of changing your number every year was more idiocy

ColinMills
Hilariously you have just defeated your own argument and given the reason why the riders want to have their own number. Let's ask the fans around the track at the end of this season shall we? ????......you think numbers a good thing, I don't..simple...as I said all along, if riders make money from it good. but in MY opinion, pointless......as a kid I wanted a junior race jacket, never ever interested in a international one.. PolskiZuzel
...Speedway is a team sport ... Is it ? Perhaps you could elaborate on this because to me speedway is an individual sport. In the same way as any sport activity based on racing or running.

New Science
Then you are obviously saying the old system of changing your number every year was more idiocy At least changing numbers last year had some significance in what position you finished last year, easy for everyone to understand and to aspire to own the top 3 race jackets. Can understand the willingness of riders such as Hancock,Zagar and Smolinski for change but some of the stories being pulled out how riders are creating numbers is ridiculous. Darcy Ward picks his postcode #43. Although his actual postcode is 4300,so why not pick 4300 for heavens sake
PolskiZuzel
Granted the concept is new in Europe - give it a year or two and it'll become part of the fabric. Doesn't occur to you that what might appeals to Americans doesn't always appeal to Europeans. Why do you strive to reduce people to numbers...we are not a number. So let us do what we like and you do what you like. Long live "Chris Harris"

Long live "Chris Harris" Americans invented Starbucks, McDonalds and Budweiser but not sure we can claim numbers! SGP is adopting what Moto GP, the top FIM sport, has had for years, and now F1 has taken on. If it works it will stay, simple as that! Grand Central
You don't have to. Numbers are BSI's idea not mine!.Although the real origin of Numbers is a little involved to get into here. It's safe to say they go back a couple of thousand years in some form another. Those fine people at BSI have given us many wonderful innovations. But others got in first on this. .
