Hamish McRaker
Bearing in mind that I'm a bit "remote" as far as being smack up to date with things is concerned, I'm wondering if theres been any news about Joe Screen's future involvement with speedway following his retirement as a rider? He seems to come across to me, as someone of great potential value to the development of young british riders.
ten years after
Great talent that never properly fulfilled his potential. Maybe accidents at the wrong time one at Kings Lynne and one on the Grass track spring to mind.I personally would like to see him on the Grass again but not sure that will happen. You could argue a case for quality ex riders to remain in the sport, I think we have a few but we always need more.
sussex bulldog
That accident at Kings Lynn whilst riding for the Eagles was horrific. A young first aider passed out when she saw Joe's bone coming out of his thigh. Joe was always a great racer and a good team mate and always had time for his fans. Hope whatever he does he is happy and prospers.
SCB
He should be made BSPA wheelie trainer. As a kid I love Joe, he was my first speedway hero because his wheelies were always the best and as a 5 year old wheelies are all that matter. I can think of one ex world champ currently holding a position that he is obviously not suited to , and that is of no use to anyone.

I think one of Screen's biggest assets, is that he isn't an ex world champ

Joe was always a team man and they are the backbone of our sport. When he was partnered with Jason Lyons at Belle Vue they really made their oponents work hard for every point they were able to score. No temperament or anything less than 100% commitment from Joe. RobMcCaffery
I have such fond memories of watching Joe racing at Czestochowa on Polsat in the nineties. It was like watching PC or Chris Morton on the old Belle Vue. It did make me wonder what a combination of Hyde Road and Joe in his prime would haver been like . Wonderful, I suspect.
