Popular Post Cue Ball
Always find it curious that a club can sign a contract with somebody and then change their minds without any repercussions, but if a rider refuses to ride because he hasn't been paid for a few months he gets a ban.
vog
I heard similar comments at Newcastle - during his last season, anyway. If you are averaging around the 10pt mark, people will put up with moaning and complaining. When it drops below 7, they won't. Stoke fans don't have much good to say about him either... That's why Riders become mercenaries, once you've been conned out of a few grand, loyalty doesn't pay the bills. Especially when the powers that be do nothing about it, and let it happen time and time again by the same people.

Halifaxtiger
To me he has always come across very professional. Always willing to drop things for guest bookings and also not take the mick for things like expenses. Yes as riders get older they tend to moan more. Like all of us in all forms of life!?!? I for one would be happy to employ him unlike some mercenaries out there. Never heard the same comments about Peter Karlsson, have you ? Perhaps you could lobby your team to sign him. Pinny
all he done at Newport was whinge and bitch about other team members. Nasty piece of work and a total prima donna. Plymouth well rid of him.

Boobs
you thought wrong and dont know what your talking about No, I think the poster does know what they are talking about. Speedway Star, page 9: Plymouth boss David Short admitted "we had a contract with Mark Lemon and it should have been honoured". Plymouth's promotion impressed many people last season after taking over from Mr Bowden, but reneging on a signed contract is despicable.
orderly
I seem to remember he was sacked from Newport for bitching about the club with another rider. Certainly the rumour at the time. Can you name any rider who did not bitch about Newport in fact I think that most of the staff bitched about Newport

Plymouth sign a rider to huge and sustained criticism from their fans (I haven't seen anyone from SBA who has said they want him) and then they drop that rider in favour of a soon to be club asset 20 years his junior who made a big impact at the club in 2013. Perhaps they shouldn't have signed him in the first place, but I could make a fair case that the decision to renege on his contract was an excellent one where the promotion have listened to their fans (something that happens all too rarely in speedway).

We have a consortium in charge at Plymouth and Mr Short is one member of that group. I'm led to believe he is the only member responsible for this deal so while I agree the promotion are at fault it is perhaps unfair to tarnish all of the promotion with the same brush. The bulk of the Plymouth promotion and management are very ambitious and weren't interested in bringing Lemon back.

proud panther
Would have thought that before a decision was made by a consortium, all the members would vote on it, & the majority would rule.

spin king
Clearly, this situation has highlighted what can go wrong when its is consortium runs a club, and hopefully lesson will be or should be learnt. Each member should have clear and defined roles and responsibilities within the team. No matter what people think of Mark Lemon, the way the Plymouth promotion has gone about negotiating a deal and then reneging on the deal is very poor and makes them look highly unprofessional. Lets hope that they have learnt from the experience and learn to get their house in order.
