So Where Now Nick Morris

Recommended Posts

It could well be Sheffield as have heard the new owner is looking at changing the race night to accomondate another couple of riders that ride in Sweden on Thursdays one of whom shall I say is like a member of the family

I don't think a change of race night will go down very well with some of the Sheffield fans!

Young rider becomes a victim of his club's incompetance , respected poster asks the question about his future , and the thread descends into a venom infested mire . Never fails .

Hope the lad gets fixed up . Pity we cant find a way to include him at Glasgow again . Where ever he finds a spot , whether at the start of the season or if injuries offer an opening , the lucky team will become title certainties . 3 PL title badges in his 3 years over here is an incredible statistic .

Seems to me to be more the BSPA's incompetance than Somerset's as the club were given assurances all the way through last season when they asked the powers that be about Brady's average. Mind you i believe another agreement that was made regarding important fixture planning at the end of last season with a BSPA committee member which went out the window when it should have been implemented meaning we had to win the League on a Monday rather than a Friday.

Feel sorry for Nick in all this though.

I don't think a change of race night will go down very well with some of the Sheffield fans!

That was because they talked about changing the race day to a Sunday.

But with the Rugby League team playing there matches on a Sunday at the stadium that would mean that Sunday would probably be a no goer.

But.

They could go for Wednesdays, as there is nothing going on at the stadium on a Wednesday, unlike on a Thursday where they have dog racing in the day, and leaves track staff not much time to work on the track and of course there will now be an air fence that will need to be erected.

Plus also no other Premeir League team runs meetings on a Wednesday

The fans gave a thumbs down to Sundays but Wednesday might be different.

oh and for all of you foul people on here, Nick is from English parents, grand parents great grandparent and so on, he had no choice where he was born but his family have loyaly to this country unlike some,
Nick doesn.t have to hold out a begging bowl , he has proved himself in speedway here and in Australia,

At the end of the day, he chose to become Australian. Therefore you'll forgive me if I don't get upset that a foreigner can't double up while there are Brits out of work. Yes the BSPA may have messed during the season mentioned (and more fool them!) but would it have killed Nick to wait a year?

I have very strong views on dual nationality riders.

My views is if they are going to take advantage of their British family to gain a reduced average riders should then nail their colours and commit to Team GB.

Not only they potentially taking a place of young British rider but they also gaining an unfair advantage over their fellow compatriots.

But back to the subject matter, Nick finds himself out of a riding position and what looks like a loss of earnings through no fault of his own.

Whether its is the fault of the BSPA or Somerset speedway who knows, but surely Somerset should have done the honourable thing and dropped Brady Kurtz.

Nick Morris is out of pocket through someone else's incompetence.

Why would they do that, Nick is obviously a good rider, but hes not there asset, and has no allegiance to the club.

Brady , i havent seen ride as a senior but i hear could be the next big thing since Darcy , and where as Nick could please himself if he

rode there in the future , Brady being an asset is more likely to hang around and potentually earn the club a nice transfer or loan fee.

Nick Morris is British, both parents and four grand-parents all being British. The fact of his being born overseas is no more relevant than Mark Loram being born in Malta or Benji Compton in Tenerife.

He has a UK passport and if British speedway failed to realise his potential at a time when we are crying out for new young blood, more fool them.

The thing about his riding in Australian meetings is a red herring. Kyle Newman, Joe Haines and Josh Auty have all raced in official MA title events in recent years, if Nick requested an ACU licence and entered the British title this year, why shouldn't he be accepted?

Britain needs all the good young riders it can find.

Sheffield and Wednesday sounds like a very good combination to me!

Sheffield has already declared Stead and Roynon. With Morris added, would leave only about 16 points between 4 riders. Could be done I suppose, would then need to wait for Roynons 7.8 average to drop (and possibly Stead's too) before making further change.

At least Morris is lucky that he is always guarenteed a place with Swindon due to his relationship with Rosco.

When Morris rode for Coventry in 2011 he seemed to have the potential to be a brilliant rider, however i dont think he has progressed much from then. I dont know if his personal life has distracted from his racing but i def think he would struggle in just the El as not good enough.

What on earth are you on about. He was unbelievable in the 2nd half of last season. Beating top riders at home and scoring points away. He was the most improved rider in the league last year IMO.

He is guaranteed a place at Swindon on ability.

That post is going to look very silly in Oct 2014 when he has put at least a point on his average.
