adz_mft
Taken off the Mildenhall Facebook page Press release from Mildenhall Speedway - Fen Tigers complete their 2014 line-up with a look to the future and a link to their past! Mildenhall are pleased to announce that the final team place for 2014 will be taken by Connor Coles, a signing that is sure to have a particular resonance to supporters who have followed the Fen Tigers since they first joined the then ‘National League’ back in 1975. Connor is the Grandson of Mildenhall legend Bob Coles, the man who did so much to help the Fen Tigers make a mark in league speedway over 38 years ago! Bob who was affectionately known as ‘The Rock that Mildenhall speedway was built upon” was a very welcome visitor last season when Connor rode for the Kent ‘Kings’ at West Row, his lap of honour gaining one of the biggest cheers of the season. Connor’s father Michael also had a season at Mildenhall during a long and successful career, riding for the Fen Tigers in 1988. Club Chairman Kevin Jolly was quick to highlight the importance of this signing – ‘I rode with Bob when I was starting out in my career and of course Robert (Henry) was his protégé, and there is a massive link to our clubs history in the signing of young Connor. This is something I am sure many of our fans will appreciate and understand and really get behind Connor when he rides for us. We mustn’t get too caught up though in our past as Connor is a very promising rider in his own right, he showed at Mildenhall last season he is a quick learner when he came with the Kent ‘Kings’. After a difficult start to the meeting he really clicked into the track and showed bags of potential scoring paid nine. He will start the season in one of the reserve berths and I am sure he has the potential to be one of the top reserves in the league. We will be doing all we can to support him, as we do with all our riders. We are really pleased to have secured our ‘Magnificent Seven’ for 2014 so early, and we are sure that our supporters will be happy with this young and exciting line-up. I would like to wish all Mildenhall Supporters and their families a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year from all of the management team at Mildenhall Speedway. We will enjoy the break now and then get down to business as we prepare for what looks like being a highly exciting 2014 season’ Coles was excited by the prospect of continuing his families link with Mildenhall speedway – ‘I think signing for Mildenhall is a great opportunity for me and I am really looking forward to starting the season, I hope to improve really well and quite quickly and hope to be a heat leader at some point which I think will be quite possible with the great team on the Management side at Mildenhall to support me. I have spoken to my granddad about Mildenhall and he has told me some stories and what a great place it is to be at, but I have always known myself what a good set up there is at Mildenhall and I know I am so lucky have this opportunity and intend to take it. I look forward to meeting everyone in the New Year and would like to wish everyone connected with the club a Merry Christmas’.

Banani
I think Bates could really challenge Jacobs for the number 1 spot next season.
westhamboy66
The first point has been reported in the press & the second is because Nielsen has a PL average over 4.00 so if he's signed by a PL team he can't double-up. Signed for Coventry Storm ???
Islander15
Signed for Coventry Storm ??? But he hasn't signed for a PL team! He can ride PL & NL as long as he doesn't have a PL team at the start of the season.
Parsloes 1928 nearly
But he hasn't signed for a PL team! He can ride PL & NL as long as he doesn't have a PL team at the start of the season. Not just at the 'start of the season' surely? The rule MUST apply at any point, otherwise it could be flauted simply by signing for a PL side two weeks into the new season!?
foamfence
I think the team looks weaker than some of the previous line-ups. Time will tell.
Banani
I think majority of the teams in the national league next season will look weaker than previous line ups as the amount of riders not eligible to ride in national league next year. Hector Austin
Banana- surely its not how they start but how the end hey, improvement through racing that's what da NL is about surely man?
Banani
I know it's about improving just to it looks weaker but there is hell of a lot of riders that will have added a lot of points on average by the end of the season
paullee69
I think you should be more positive and lets hope the riders do not read you crappy remarks ,the only concern I have is connor coles bikes and how god they are constantly let him down last season and for the most part only had the one
Halifaxtiger
The team has gone down very well with supporters of the MFT's I'm not surprised because its a cracking line up - young, exciting and full of potential. Its certainly one I would want to watch (and, all being well, most certainly will). Not just at the 'start of the season' surely? The rule MUST apply at any point, otherwise it could be flauted simply by signing for a PL side two weeks into the new season!? Bizarrely, 'start of the season' is correct. Why ? Your guess is as good as mine.

teddy2706
Bah! I liked the 4pm start time But I only go a couple of times a year to West Row, so the majority wishes should prevail so long as the chip shop opens earlier too It is excellent to hear of a promotional team who listen to their customers and react positively. Very well done.

PhilK
Press Release from Mildenhall Speedway - New Start time in 2014 for the Fen Tigers and Admission Charges Held at 2013 Prices! There will be a new start time for Mildenhall speedway in 2014 as the club have decided to bring forward race-day start times one hour to 3.30pm....Club Chairman Kevin Jolly confirmed the change whilst explaining the thought process behind the move –‘We gave out a questionnaire towards the end of the 2013 season and received some excellent comments and ideas from many of our loyal supporters, many of which are being looked at closely prior to the start of the season. I think supporters will appreciate these moves and although some will be seem quite small I am positive they will all add to the entertainment value of an afternoon out at Mildenhall speedway! One question posed was about our start time and the response we received was greatly in favour of an earlier start, many families stating it would be better as it allowed them to get home with their children at an earlier time with school on the Monday to consider. As a family club we are happy to help meet their wishes and whilst we appreciate it may not suit everyone, a large majority were in favour of the move.I’d like to thank our brilliant track staff team, who already work tirelessly from early in the morning on race-days for supporting the move. They really are a great bunch.Things are really starting to move along a pace now, what with the Snail Racing on 8th February and further exciting news due in the coming weeks, I personally can’t wait for the season to start!’The Fen Tigers promotion are also pleased to advise supporters that there will be no increase in admission prices or the cost of the meeting programme for the 2014 season.Admission prices remain at - Adults £12 - Concessions (60+) £11 - Students £11 - Junior (15 and under) free *please note to qualify for free entry a ‘Junior’ must be accompanied by a paying Adult.Meeting Programme £1.50 – Car Parking Free.
Super Blue
I hear the law case about noise has reared its ugly head yet again and the stadium owners have lost the case! Should be ok to run this season but it's looking ominous for the future.
