Great Central
Anyone? If someone could confirm ASAP as I'm seeing someone in the morning who may be able to help. I think that Bryn is probably the best person to take this question and possibly offline. What is disappointing is that you are one of a number of people that may have found some support for the IOW club and had the cry gone out earlier, then just imagine what may have been possible. SCB
It's ok now, I've had a few people contact me. So fingers crossed some good can come from it.

Great Central
Regardless of the outcome, well done mate. I echo your comments - the fact that people are continuing to try their best to help the club will bring heart to Kevin Shepherd, Bryn Williams and the others who are fighting to keep the club alive. Its seems a pity, there undoubted fighting spirit, seems no longer shared by the Chairman.
Lord Skid
Could well have been in his long term plan, we will never know, but the Chairman certainly seems to be holding all the ace cards, which have been built up over recent years.
TMW
Could well have been in his long term plan, we will never know, but the Chairman certainly seems to be holding all the ace cards, which have been built up over recent years. They do seem to be in a bit of a stalemate with the chairman on 1 side and the shareholders on the other. It does make you wonder what the next meeting needs to bring to the table to break it :-(

Lord Skid
Vote of no confidence in chairman, file for bankruptcy, open new company next day, carry on trading, seems common practice nowadays.

Would they be willing to give a new lease to a newco if the existing one went into receivership?

vcmazz
So this coming Tuesday really is D-Day for the islanders. Interestingly, going by the 4th paragraph of this latest press release http://www.iowislanders.co/news%2016.01.14.html, the point I was trying to make on the "Isle of Wight 2014" thread appears to have been picked up on. As a new supporter and non-shareholder, it's not my place to get involved on the night but I can only hope that the shareholders (owners) establish whether or not the other revenue streams of Island Speedway (IOW) Ltd are sufficient to fund Speedway without the company making an overall loss. Because if this is the case, I am in little doubt that they would vote more or less unanimously to save Speedway and fund it this way. Ommer Mon
I have my fingers crossed that the Shareholders will be able to find a way to keep the Islanders on the track. Speedway can ill afford yet another track to go out of business especially now that there are avenues for more talented British youngsters to get a taste of higher level racing. Best wishes to those involved with the Club and hope to see the Islanders at Monmore Wood this year.
greyhoundp
So following on from the sad but inevitable decision at this late stage of the close season. Does anyone have any IOW shares they would be interested in selling ?. Yes i am aware I can approach the Chairman, but would he be keen to sell shares to someone who would like to see Speedway return? .

Yes i am aware I can approach the Chairman, but would he be keen to sell shares to someone who would like to see Speedway return? . I may be wrong, but my impression of the Chairman is that there is nothing he would like more than to go to Speedway on a Tuesday night without the financial pressure and stress that goes with it. He has made it perfectly clear that he will not walk away and leave his money behind - fair enough, I doubt many people would. But I would suggest it would certainly be worth talking to him with regards to shares.
