Dear Promoters,

Please arrange the League and Knock Out Cup fixtures as the priority this year. Any additional competitions can be run in September and October.

As this is the right time of year for miracles and wishes coming true, I am almost optimistic.

Just a little common sense and co-operation required.

Yours hopefully,

Tony K.

Dont be silly Tony, this is Speedway we are talking about, Its guaranteed there will be a scramble at the end of October to get the Play Offs and KO Cup final run, why ? because they are totally unable to forsee any fixture pile ups., all it needs is certain rounds of the KO Cup to be run by a certain date, with the Play Offs its a little more difficult, but still doable, again just bring the cut off date forward. Then for those who want, they can enter the National Trophy to see September & October out, and even hold the League Shield in the same year between Play Off winners and KO Cup winners, that should be a money spinner. The promoters need to realise, Speedway is primarily a summer sport, and we dont enjoy watching Speedwaay on freezing cold late October nights, and also realise its somewhat ridiculous to have a league fixture to complete after the Play Offs have been run.

Also there are 20+ weeks to hold meetings between May and the end of September, more than enough for most Teams.

Hope the potential new teams could be announced after meeting can see little being sorted without that knowledge in place ,,Hopefully also someone else might apply for the league co-ordinators position it could certainly be improved in my opinion ,,Malcolm ????

Not enough riders to go round ?

Well RH were talking about 5 rookies so I can't see that being an issue and i'd say Scunny would have been the same maybe not enough rookies

Have the eligibility rules been relaxed ? If there's not enough riders to go round they may have to change ?

Doesn't sound like it. Nothing in the press release and that would be quite a change.

What could have happened to RH and Scunny? Oh well maybe they will re think

Len Silver was asking for sponsorship to fund the Raiders which I guess didn't happen. Crowds would never be enough to pay their way and any spare change will have gone into buying the air fence. Maybe if someone feels generous in the near future then the January 31st deadline given to IOW will be extended to new entries.

Shame then. Adam Ellis ( my son ) is ruled out of the NL after competing in only one season of racing

Despite only racing one season, Adam is way too good for the NL. He needs to push himself on at a higher level rather than spending money to compete at the lower level (unless he signed for Cradley :))

Surely with the relative lack of experience Adam and similarly experienced riders have they need as much competitive track time as possible even a couple of race wins after a few hard and pointless higher level appearances can make the difference

This league is about a conveyer belt of new talent the conveyer belt needs to keep moving I can see both sides you don't want new talent getting fed up waiting for places but then by the same token you need to as we say in my trade 'underpin knowledge' because you can't beat experience

The things is that Adam hasn't been having 'hard and pointless higher level appearances'. I don't think he will learn anything by beating lesser able riders by half a lap while shutting off before the chequered flag. Yes, it's great to see talented riders like Adam but why ride in the NL just for the sake of it, his ambition should keep him moving up rather than holding back?

I suspect tha JTS argument is about Adams earning potential as much as anything else. His earning potential in the national league is quite high even on £10 a point which I doubt he is on and I quite agree he should be given the opportunity to earn as much as he can during the season.
