Van Helsing
Pretty sure that Cory has retired from the sport.
Elephantman
Always has and always will be a 6-7 point man that wont amount to anything in the sport. Should be giving spaces to young british riders instead. Id rather a rider who scored big points or at least had the potential to do so than a nice bloke Many riders English or not would be delighted to be seen as a 6-7 point man as they are essential to any team and that average is a clear indicator that they have amounted to something in the sport.
spin king junior
Definitely wouldn't want Crashercole at Sheffield. Dirty rider and doubt there'll be much improvement in him.

What about the Cooorreeyyy Gattthhhercole moments of a few years back on the Somerset videos, great fun. EnglishRoundabout
Tough as teak is Cory. I remember him hitting the third bend fence back/neck first a couple of years ago, whilst trying to blast around the outside. Horrendous looking crash. Must admit I immediately thought the worst, but he was up and back in the pits preparing for his next race....which he duly won. Agree with others in that Gathercole puts absolutely everything into his speedway. I had high hopes he would develop into an EL heat leader whilst he was under the great Leigh Adams's wing at Swindon, but instead, he seemed to go backwards. That said, a guaranteed PL six and a half point man. Someone out there will snap him up I'm sure.
neil bv
I'd heard he was retiring. He was in one of the best races I've ever seen in a battle with Complin & Bunyan. Shame he never made it to the top as he was a great prospect.
Ben91
Came over to the IOW the year after Chris Holder and with lots of press that he was related to Leigh Adams too, was always going to be a big ask to go on to be as good a rider as those two. An entertaining rider but he has reached his peak. Regardless of age or nationality if I was a promotor looking to win league title then he'd be far down on my wanted list. Brujas Espanolas
I wonder if he would have granted a G.B.E? Given that he failed to achieve a seven point average and assuming that he's not a dual national, then unless he finished in the top four in his State Championship, then he would not have met the criteria. So the decision may have been outside his control.

It was at the OTA - he carried a load of speed into the third bend and clipped the rear wheel of the rider he was attempting to overtake (might have been the Fish - it was the Rebels v the Monarchs I'm pretty sure). He straightened up and hit the fence at a proper rate of knots. Amazed he didn't end up going through the fence like spaghetti! Having sat in the middle of the track for about 20 seconds or so he got to his feet and walked back to the pits while they had to drag/carry the wreckage of his bike back. Surely too good to be overlooked? Edited December 9, 2013 by ancient mariner

hagonshocker
Are you for real?? Never be good enough for what exactly? To entertain the punters by trying his heart out? Blasting round the boards at the Oak Tree - good enough for me, and a nicer lad you couldn't wish to meet. Good luck to him, wherever he ends up. Agree cant believe the crass nasty comments of those two pillocks...good bloke always making time for a chat and a real whole hearted trier...and as for the 'All that is knowledgable' plonker that is SCB he gets a special reward...that pratt is a PRIZE plonker

Cory had a lot of help from Leigh Adams & also from Steve Johnston & I think it effected him when they both left Britain & Leigh's bad injury might have had an effect as well. oldace
What the hell have I said? You committed the cardinal sin. Don't you know it is sacrilege to utter anything about a speedway rider that isn't gushing in praise. You deserve to burn in hell for that I am afraid!!!!!!!!!!
