mikebaker
No place for him at Plymouth in 2014. Is this the last we have seen of him in the UK. Remember seeing Cory at the Isle Of Wight in 2008. Thought then would be an Elite Leauge rider in a couple of years. Any one know if Cory has had any offers for next season. phillipsr
Just the sort of rider we should be driving out of the british league. Will never be good enough
doners1234
How many of you saw Cory ride last year out of curiosity ?
Brooksy
Just the sort of rider we should be driving out of the british league. Will never be good enough Are you for real?? Never be good enough for what exactly? To entertain the punters by trying his heart out? Blasting round the boards at the Oak Tree - good enough for me, and a nicer lad you couldn't wish to meet. Good luck to him, wherever he ends up.

You wont meet anyone more committed at making a go of it in speedway. 100% trier, never lets a team down and like you said a quality bloke to go with it. Provided plenty of entertainment for his teams fans down the years.

SCB
Ah the old, "he's a nice lad", all speedway riders are, we're constantly told that. Emilalis comments were a bit harsh but in the scheme of things, if we never see him again I doubt many will lose any sleep
JCookie
You'll never get a nicer lad than a 6 point journeyman.
Al Stewart
To be honest I think most teams would welcome Gathercole. The thing about speedway is that every rider has a part to play and you don't need to be a star. The important thing is that you are not asked to play a part above your capabilities. If he was signed as a no. 1 he would probably fall short, if he was a no. 3, 4 or 5 he would be excellent. He's also entertaining. The only downside is he tends to get injured through trying too hard. I can't understand anyone rubbishing him in the way we've seen.
phillipsr
Always has and always will be a 6-7 point man that wont amount to anything in the sport. Should be giving spaces to young british riders instead. Id rather a rider who scored big points or at least had the potential to do so than a nice bloke

The Australians on the other hand supplement the PL because there aren't enough British riders and generally have no ties to a geographical area, meaning they will travel where they can get a team place.

It does however let you have a team of 6 pointers. And as for "won't amount to anything in the sport", a 6-7 point PL average already puts him well inside the top 50% in the UK. I would be happy to have him in my team.
