Sky Sports New Deal

I cant quite see why the majority think this is so good for the sport. How many clubs had heavy losses before sky came along? It's the same in most sports where TV money comes along, the riders/players get all of it, and in a lot of cases more on top of that. It's a false economy. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching it and will continue to do so, but I honestly feel It's done more harm than good. I speak to lots of people who used to go, when I ask why don't they go anymore, It's the usual answers, crap stadia, stupid rules, but the most common one is "why bother when I can watch it on the box". I'm convinced if it wasn't on the telly, a lot more fans would come through the turnstiles. When Ipswich were Elite I would go to a dozen premier league meetings just to see something different, but since we dropped down I've been to one elite meeting (Emil's British debut at KL), I used to go to all the major events, but now I watch them on the telly, maybe I'm in a small minority, but looking at the crowds these days, I don't think I am.

What a sad individual. Quoting untruths, hoping to satisfy his personal grudge I would suggest.

I would have thought better of you Ian. At every opportunity, that someone slags off Speedway or the BSPA, you seem to rub your hands with glee. You are not gustix, are you.

Obviously The Pedaler has issues, misquoting, and making up things which are totally untrue, to try and embarrass the 'establishment". Why should any answers be given to a man on a mission trying to cause some form of bother. Business deals are between the parties and I see no reason why they need, or should, be made public, to satisfy the whims of such a poster.

Unless it Newcastle ute then it's ok ...

If GoSpeed have sold the UK rights for the Polish league to BT that would be very good news for fans and them as a business as well.

I have to admit I know nothing about this possible deal but have a feeling if BT have got a speedway deal it is likely to be for the Swedish league as Tuesday in summer looks light in their schedule they could of course go for both

I would guess Sweden too. Premier not showing it this year (Eurosport have secured mainland Europe rights)

I'd agree with that unless the Poles can be persuaded to switch a match to midweek. BT is packed with football and rugby at weekends (and close season is only a few weeks now) with live games on both channels, while their midweek schedule is pretty thin.

Hope someone has warned the Polish teams crowds will be down and Polish speedway will go into meltdown.

I instantly presumed it would be the Swedish rather than the Polish league. I would imagine the Polish league is not feasible for the exact same reasons i can never get to watch it, namely, it's meetings are staged at one of the most prime times for major tv sport - Sunday afternoon.

I would guess that most sports channels are struggling to fit everything into their schedules on Saturdays and Sundays and as speedway fans we sadly all know about the red button lol.

Sad to see Premier Sports go the way of Setanta and end up trying to be a 'mini Sky' with the same old, same old traditional balls sports taking over the schedule. Only reason i'm keeping it for now is they show Nascar and the occasional mixed martial arts tourney.

Firstly it won't be a 'tv programme' it will probably be just one camera, showing races, won't be any interviews on anything like that purely races so you can bet on them and see what happens. Also it won't be great quality, just a small window in the corner of the betting website

It could be a step towards one though perhaps.

Quite a number of posts have championed a magazine style round up of all fixtures as being on their wish list.

Until now the coverage simply hasnt been there to consider it.

With this new tie up with a bit of forward thinking and development it could be.

Returning to the Sky deal I wonder if the BSPA have run out yet of ways to embarrass their broadcast partner? First we had the Ford/Echo leak and now the fiasco over the ERC's staging date. If you read the BSPA's latest statement http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.23718 the message is certainly "please, please don't blame Sky!"

If it carries on like this Sky will be wishing BT had taken over....

Who the hell do the BSPA get to write these statements?

Such a tragically obsequious message is quite pitiful.

Agree - I actually do believe this was nothing to do with Sky!! Why would their negotiators be the slightest bit interested in what fixture clashes there may or may not be?!

This was down to Go-Speed, who were contracted to negotiate on behalf of..................the BSPA?!!!

If sky or go speed came up with available dates, the bspa would have agreed to the running date and change from the sunday to the friday.

The date was changed because sky or go speed want to show the meeting at KL on the sunday.
